When is a tractor not a tractor

I take it most of you lot watched Guy Martin last night in the fastest ‘tractor’ and well done to the team, but that wasn’t a tractor, could it do any agricultural things? He had a ‘go’ at top gear for making a mock up tractor but in my eyes that’s what JCB did, special front axle, new lighter chassis, smaller cab no linkages front or rear, in fact a racing truck on big wheels with a fibreglass body stuck on
Now in my mind it should do what the county ‘sea horse’ did, a tractor that floated across the channel then worked a bit of land when it completed the voyage just my thoughts

Yes, it was fun to watch, but it was no more a JCB Fastrac than my pickup. A bit like Trigger’s broom. How many components do you change before it is not the same thing you started with?

Fair enough if it had a drawbar and did a shift on the Maize.. missed abit of a trick not putting it in a field of you ask me! Thinking about it, they didn’t even show a real fastrac doing any work, only guys Deere!

Totally agree with you there Mog, and did have a laugh when they mocked the top gear one, they did exactly the same but just chucked a bucket load more money at it🤔 And as you say, just a racing truck on big wheels. This is still the one to beat....

I thought it was a good watch. And you cant say JCB haven't got some brilliant engineers to make this happen. According to their website, JCB say it has over 50% standard components. The engine was running 230% boost and 165% more engine speed but was based on the block of their 672 engine and the suspension was stock.
I agree it wasn't going to do a days field work but it seemed more "tractor" than the other record breakers. I wonder what the criteria actually are?

PROPER JOB can still remember when the mad bastard took the governor off and blew the engine up and they only way they could stop it was to choke it out Funny enough i had a honda gx120 run away with it's self after it had been tipped over and the petrol mixed with the oil the only way was to choke it out. Me and the other fitter who was looking at both shouted PROPER JOB as it finally died lol

I can't find any specific information about engine type but Land Rover was mentioned in one article about the tractor
As far as I have found out it supposed to have 350 Hp
And the owner chickend out when he reached 50 Mph
