@doobin if you've still got it at the end of the month (after I've topped up the funds after buying my Takeuchi, which was finalised today) I could be pretty keen
Couple of questions- guessing it's ok on a 5ft topper?
And what's it like for leg room? I'm 6ft 5, don't have any trouble with the dexta or 35 but on the Industrial I've had to bolt a spacer in to lift the seat upwards and back a couple of inches

Tons of legroom and yes 38hp is ample for a 5ft topper even in thick stuff. If you’re not trailering it about id go 6’ but 5’ fits nicely between the ramp posts on an Ifor.

I’m absolutely loving my new tractor. Flying along at 7-10kph across some fairly rough fields, way quicker than you’d want to go with a normal tractor. Shunting backwards and forwards easily on the short work, cutting both ways.

Cut and collect on bracken mulch is obviously a lot slower due to the light material but it’s picking up a fair layer of it.

It’s an expensive 38hp tractor but for my work it’s ideal.

That's why I said if you have a standard topper already. The rear one on those is just a standard 3 point linkage mower and it looks like all the brackets are there so should be able to connect any mower the correct width

It'll be a 5ft initially, as that's what I've got and for trailering but nice to know it'll handle a 6ft.
Like I say, I am interested in it but need to get a few quid back in so if someone else grabs it in the meantime fair enough

I did a spot of topping and Harrowing today with my trusty old Ford 5610. My topper is and offset Fleming 5ft, and the chain harrow is a Hackett about 12ft extended

It's for slightly shorter grass than a topper. The council used them as they will do everything from football pitches to the rough areas cut a few times a year. The rollers flatten all the grass then the shape of the blades on majors supposedly sucks it back up. It's supposed to stop you getting the tractor wheel marks appearing as longer grass strips after a couple of weeks.

I built an extension for this guy years ago . He’s a lovely guy . He’s been into refurbing tractors but is too old to do it any more . He’s selling this . I’m going to see him tomorrow .
He’s told me the lift doesn’t work on it and he knows feck all about it . Anyone else have any ideas about these things ?
What are they like ?

I don’t think the 685 was a bad little tractor. Never changed a clutch on one myself but I have changed a few clutches on other brands & it usually involves splitting the tractor which sounds more difficult than it actually is unless you run into problems with oil seal leaks or worn fly wheel etc.

I think it’ll be a bigger issue than that . The guy is 80 and his hobby has been fettling with tractors but he has arthritis now and sadly can’t do it anymore . He’s also got an older fordson super dexta in his shed amongst others . He will definitley have checked the oil. He’s from the east coast though so he’s a canny old bugger and as tight as a ducks backside but I really like him and enjoyed doing his extension . He worked hard all his life .
