What to buy?

I was contemplating new, but glad I was able to find a good used micro. Having to pay £255 a month for 5 years is a big commitment. Once you've paid the vat and 10% a few more K and you can own a machine outright from day 1.

If you're buying through you're business interest on finance can be offset against tax (provided you're making enough to pay tax) so realistically it's only the monthly payments which differ. Finance usually is expensive if you borrowing more than 50% of total cost.

It's no fun window shopping for diggers at the moment. It's either 20 years old for £10,000+, Same price as new or a scam.
Makes a 2016 KTM 690 enduro for £6500 look an absolute bargain:unsure:

Not at the moment you can’t mate! Nothing much for less than £8k.

I wish all my finance bills were £250 a month! My e10 is £225 a month (maybe a year and a half to go?) and it’s incredible value. It’s paid for by midday on the first day I use it most months.

My e10 has nearly 2k hours on and still original pins and bushes. It's had a couple of shims but that's it. Grease is key.

I've an 8010 aswell and that was just over 2k hours before it had new pins and bushes. The bucket link was well ready (by my standards 😛) but the e10 is still good in that department.

I don't think I'll get that sort of hours out of the dx19 but should be high 1000s

I would have thought the dx19 would be better than the e10?
It’s good to hear you’re getting those sort of hours, any problems along the way?

Having just priced a replacement E27, it’s safe to say that my three will be staying for a long time yet 🥺

So had a quote brand new 18.5k plus vat 0% for 3 years and september is the earliest possible date common sense is telling me to go for something much cheaper and not put myself into as much debt even if the machine is paying for itself so think kx008 or 8010 are the contenders

Overall was equating to nearly 20k all said and done thats with only 10% down and full vat upfront waiting to hear back about new machine atm only around 255 a month for 5 years which isnt too bad on a fixed interest rate which is better as they are all going up just thought if i can get a brand new one for around 20k makes more sense but tell me if im wrong
Crazy they are 20k

You are genuinely looking to buy at the worst possible time, supply is low demand high and prices to match and who knows for how long. Unfortunately its keeping the second hand prices up. I don't know how much use you've got for one but I'd honestly be looking to hire in the short term if you don't have work for one every day.

E10 has had 3 burst hoses from valve block up the arm.
Dx10 has had new fuel solenoid as it was knocking when new, also had a oil pressure sensor recently.
Dx19 had 2 rams replaced under warranty as they were creeping and end of last year it had a gas strut for the deanmans lever.
I have had to put a couple shims the dx19. But that's about it.

I know now is an awful time but i cant see it getting any better only worse tbh and its not everyday its needed but have a few long enough projects where i feel buying one is a smarter move just not sure i can justify 20k right now on a single item if i found a decent machine that does the job leaves room for other machines that i feel i need too

Do you think prices will come down?
Do they ever?
I remember when pickups were £20,000.
There's a house down the road that was £90,000 25 years ago, got to be £600,000
maybe closer to a million now.
Maybe if all this Chinese tat lasts 20 years, that might bring the prices down, but I can't see that happening.

If i could pay around 10k all in then id be able to afford a tracked dumper to go with it and still have change as long as it gets the job done i dont think ill be too bothered
