Loving your work there, Stu. Sort of thing I’d do myself. But why don’t you spec the bucket with the wear strips on from new? And if you’re putting that extra edge on, why not have a bolt on edge?

I think if you are going to straighten the new bucket, then you’ll be best to cut the center support away from the bottom, put a good gap in it and the bottom might almost spring back to shape?

Aside from all that, you’ve paid your money, you’re not really happy with it, it should be right imo, I think you should be contacting them to get it rectified. But that’s just my opinion

We didn't buy direct it was through the dealer so am getting thoughts on it as old man is not worried about it just wants me to do our bits to it plus other new digging buckets came with strips on but are so thin will wait till it's worn to cut them off and change for better thickness

Personally don't bother with extra edge either bolted or welded as it makes front edge of bucket too thick you end up pulling stuff about rather it going in the bucket. Better for cleaning up off grass with a bit of wear on anyway. I do strap the back like you have tho last a lot longer and stay straight better

Totally agree on the bolts sticking up, they are a pain, I always cut the remaining thread off, but you’ve still got the nut.
I‘ve some buckets with the bolt on edges and some with just a welded lip, I go for a decent lip mostly, welded in and accept that I’ve got to cut it out to change it one day, it’s worth the trade off for not having the bolts sticking up and a slimmer profile cutting edge. And there is weight to consider on smaller machines. A decent edge that is butt welded to the bucket floor is not to big a deal to change. if its lapped on the floor it’s a different matter....

Less than ideal really! I’d send that one back, look at it as everything you dig will be 5mm overdug on 50% of the bucket.. over it’s lifetime I image that could be a fair wedge of ££ one way or another!!

My 4ft Engcon GP bucket has a small bow in it(will put a level on it tomorrow to see how bad thinking about it!!) but then it does flex quite abit so it doesn’t really matter.. not the thickest of toe plates on them, but you get a real nice clean cut so I’m not fussed.

Ive had to send 2 buckets back in the past. Both bought with new machines and sorted via the dealer. Not keen buckets tho.

Wouldn't be as bad if it was up in middle instead of down as over time that's how they end up going if you use them for scraping off with.

My smp grader has a v slight downward bow in the middle don't think it had it new but it does get used for a lot of digging duties it probably shouldn't

Only noticed when I offered up the extra cutting edge to it and it was rocking left to right everyone I've added an edge to over the years has sat flat on the one underneath

I think its worth a call to them in the morning Stuart. Its not right and it should be sorted. Yes you could overcome it but that's not why you buy new is it! See what they say.

exactly Stu ..... let them sort it ... lot of needless faff for you ... has had too much heat on the one side during assembly and / or not clamped down .... get it replaced
