Starting to think this way about any car, it’s just becoming daft to buy outright, I’d of been better off putting the cash from my last car in s&p500, and paying the lease out of the interest, after 3 yrs I’d have all initial investment and go onto lease another new car.. yeah over time my pot would probably diminish but buying outright will see it halve in value in 3 years at least!

As you say, in reality nearly everything we buy has a percentage of Chinese built components, often a high percentage.
I'm with you on dealers. I would much rather have a dealer who wants your business rather than one who doesn't care or worse actively doesn't want you as you are only buying one machine and not using their financial package.
Good luck with it - I'm sure you have done your figures and can make it work well for you.

But buying second hand is more attractive especially with longer warranties.
A 25% + reduction for a 1 year old car is pretty good in my eyes.

Bottom line, and its part of this thread - pretending your Wacker, Cat or JCB is morally better than a decent Chinese brand is probably naive, because the bits probably say made in China.

I couldn't be offended on the subject tbh but will say that Its a misjudgement to think there is any "pretence" on my part, I honestly believe that its in my best interests to buy an eu machine no matter how infinitésimale the difference it makes can be, certainly not to achive some moral high ground, also moral debate aside there remains the fact that at this point no chinese company puts together a 6t machine the equal of the ET65.

Presumably shipping costs and container sizes must be major factors in deciding where stuff is assembled

I think labour and in particular energy costs have a bigger bearing.

When you consider that all economic output is essentially energy transformed, then look at the cost of our electricity compared to anywhere else in the world…. It’s no wonder we are screwed.

Some are made in China, some in Grenoble, some in Wackersdorf, Germany, a lot in Japan. All of the factories have the same cleanliness standards.

Compact loaders, and backhoes. All of the ADT’s are produced at Peterlee. Don’t quite know how that hasn’t changed, as we’ve had years of both arse cheeks trying to make manufacturing as expensive as possible In this country.
