That was an impressive watch ....... left me wondering if the company owner had always wanted the BIG Meccano set in the plywood box or if he looked at the crane sales brochure, lost the will to live and ticked all of the options 😁

You know it's good when the little attendant crane if on its own would be worth a second look 🙂

I bought one of these last year from an associate to fulfill some contracts. Couldn't find another in whole of Southwest at the time (southwest means this side of Okehampton to me!) I had (in hindsight) delusional plans to operate it. Fell out of love with it and sold to a chap in Weymouth who seems to be busy with it.
Now there is someone about 20 miles away selling one.. looks like sensible money. Mine was 12 years older with half the hours and 21K ish...
Lots of useful kit hidden away in sheds I guess.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Russ had a IIRC 9t spider ... just couldn't keep it out often enough to make it viable and sold it .. and if he couldn't, not a lot of hope

Made enough on mine with its trailer to cover all costs and buy a new bigger trailer. Musnt grumble. If we were doing the steel tank installs that we were doing 3 years ago I'd have kept it busy,

Russ has grown up in the crane game and at one time ran them up to 200 tonners .. sold his order book/customer contact list to Gordon Sparrow after their two year moratorium expired, after they'd sold out two years previously. He too had a two year 'hiatus' imposed and he sold all but a few of his machines, which he had out the day the two years was up :) ... he thought he could make a spider pay and tried for nigh on a year, but the demand just wasn't there :( ... approaching 60 now and he's down to just the 30t Liebherr, which he virtually lives in - never been so busy and has a great rep. in the area. ... have known him a long time and very often 'swapped' jobs, if we got hires on each other's 'patches';)(y)

Check it out in daylight...looks like the mother of all formwork being built in back ground ?🤔
caisson at a guess to replace the bridge pier .... good luck getting that in position in a flowing river

It is formwork for a concrete bathtub which they will cast on land and hoist into the river with the (small) yellow crane
it becomes so heavy that it will sink to the bottom
then they will build up the bridge pillar from the inside of it

slings a bit far apart but decent length ... surprising how slippery some surfaces can be ...... have had a similar experience with 10t of new flat bottomed canal boat ... red with rust underneath - real powdery ... didn't have the damned thing that high and fortunately over the water, putting it in ... mine did the reverse and went bow first, from about 3-4 feet .... pedal to the metal and winch down like **** ... didn't flood it.
my lifting gear supplier/inspector just happened to be stood next to my cab door, as he lived beside the canal and had come for a yap ... " **** me - never seen that happen before Gra "

I'm told it air-ed on 'You've been framed' a few months later, but never seen it

I think I would be happier with the slings further apart
nah ... get the balance right and it's fine .. too far apart without spreaders is asking for trouble ... they'll want to slide together
's novel landing that straight into a mooring ... explains the size of the crane ... local canal has a properly prepared crane stand parallel to the canal ... truck turns up beside you, lift, slew round and drop it straight in the drink (y)

Was going to say the point of balance is good, and I don't think its their first time.

You have to slightly wonder why the marinas that have put the effort into putting in crane pads don't have their own spreaders and slings ....... I'd guess that L.O.L.E.R. gets in the way of safe working when there are cheaper options 🤔
