Wacker - what oil in the vibrator

As the title suggests - what oil do we put in the vibrator unit please

This HS60 with a nice Lifan engine for 5 or 6 years for occasional stuff

on the last few outings it leaks oil from the end seal of the vibe unit
Gonna need to simply top it up for tomorrow’s job. Then it will be a bit of workshop time
The question is what oil should be used. Nothing in the manual

If all else fails any oil is better than no oil. Its only bearings to oil in there anyway i would think (never needed to take one apart to find out what's inside) it'll probably just be engine oil.

AFAIK there is just two bearings and an offset weight in there so any oil better than none, light grease should also do the trick

Engine oil is thinner than gear oil so would use engine oil

So my little petrol wacker says ATF yet big diesel uses same engine oil as the engine 10w 40. So as its only splash lube for bearings use whatever you got out of those two and it'll be fine. Just as long as there's oil in there be

Atf is thinner than engine oil so would create less drag for off center weight but lube bearings

As said above thicker oil will cause more drag, thinner oil will piss out the end seal.
Presume the bearing is running rough to have knackered the seal.

Will stick some engine oil in rather that the SAE 95/140 that I have in the cupboard
Bearings seem ok. So perhaps if I’m motivated I’ll pull the seal and replace it

had to change my wacker plate bearing and seal in april I have found if seal is leaking bearing is often on its way out
I got 1 seal and bearing from simply bearings total cost £15.06 easly to fit

I find it's usually seal gone because bearing has started to fail.

BTW - what grade of oil to you stuff in the hole

Why not just replace with sealed for life bearings, chuck a seal in for good measure and fill with oil for belt and braces

Don't think it would matter with either engine oil or ATF.

I did a gearbox last year & the bearing supplier only had sealed bearings, they advised this but suggested I tore out the inner bearing seal to allow the oil in.

why ?? ... they're sealed for life

Don't think it would matter with either engine oil or ATF.

LT77 gear boxes were ATF only so is obviously up to the job
