why ?? ... they're sealed for life

Yeah they are but they don't always have much grease in them. Use to change them for fun on trials bike didn't matter what make you got either. Often use to pull seal off one side and pack more grease in before fitting them in hubs.

yeh, but steaming/pressure washing 'em off fooks 'em PDQ anyway .... never put the pressure washer near M/c wheel bearings

aye and open or sealed .... they have a finite life .....
consider the speed a wheel bearing goes round at, at 70 mph .... remarkable they last as long as they do really

I never used to hot wash bike and only occasionally would i pressure it.

Used to work in a bike shop - grease-less bearings were a good earner
