Volvo ecr88d

Hi guys

Any volvo gurus on here. Have a ecr88d that pulses when gently raising the boom at idle or mid revs,full revs it doesnt happen. Also doesn't do it if you boom and dipper in together and immediately let dipper go.

Not lacking in power at all. Just has this annoying niggle.

Any ideas?

Faulty Solenoid maybe? Pending what someone with more knowledge says, I’d say swap a solenoid of another service around and see if it moves the fault to elsewhere?

will be servo hydraulic surely? possibly RV on boom circuit

The ECR88 has a spool change update, I did a few but can’t remember whether it was for boom or arm!

Was this the little orifice sort of thing in the pump? Yes volvo had me do this to help with grading, which it did , it controls dipper arm better. But doesnt do anything for the boom

Im awaiting a fitting to be able to teat the servo pressure as these dont actually have a test port, you have to tap into the the line. Its supposed to be 35bar at idle and full chat im told.

Also to add. This pulsing happens when quick hitch is activated, this one is tapped into the main valve block for a feed straight where the pump feeds main block. I have a hunch whatever it is is in the pump or pump set up, would a issue with the load sensing side cause this?

my hitch is connected to the Delta pressure circuit, not the main block - bound to upset the load sensing like that

Pic here shows the update. Apparently controls how fast pump opens out.

Its a factory fitted hitch , pic attached also how thats plumbed.

assume 2 in D is throttled adaptor?
C is tank return ?
can you put up a full pic of B in that screenshot ?

the fitting in the other pic is obviously a flow reducer orifice

When i activate hitch i get the same pulsing noise from down the valve block area as i do when raising boom. It kind of sounds like a relief going off in a way. But power wise machine is good. Been lifting 4ft concrete lego blocks with a bucket on.

Maybe me worth getting the Stethoscope out and seeing if i can pinpoint it?

first place for the stethoscope (on the hitch valve block's RV'd be my first port of call)

To my knowledge the hitch valve doesn't have a relief valve. I think it uses Main valve block to relief, i think

I’m guessing it would affect load sensing on the bucket side of the valve block!

Id say yes if it was tapped into the bucket line. But its not.

It would still get signal from bucket service to advance the pump to deliver the oil
