Volvo EC27c tracking

Good evening.

We have a 2015 Volvo EC27c mini digger that seems to be most violent in its tracking!! Even in low speed tracking it’s very aggressive and fine tuning a left or right turn is nigh on impossible as it’s so abrupt in its actions, both of us are competent operators, and agree it’s quite sharp. Any ideas? TB230 I was on yesterday is silky smooth in its track operation. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I suppose it could cause a heat and noise problem

The machine is quite a “lively machine” very quick but once in the mode is a very good 2.7ton machine, but tracking is imo dangerously snatchy, if you were needing finesse through a tight spot you’d be preying not to have to adjust left or right, as even a small input on track lever is aggressive, even throttles back.

is this a 'new to you' m/c or have you had it some time?
has it suddenly started or always been like it ?
possible someone at some time has replaced a component with the wrong one?

We had it second hand at 3000 hours, and the issue has been with it since we had it. Trying to work out wether it’s a characteristic of the Volvo ec27c or we have a problem…

like Mick says, trying some reducer/throttled orifice adaptors would be a starting point to try to reduce the flow rate as that's essentially what is making it so 'violent' ... it's also possible that someone my have upped the PRV on the slices giving you higher pressure than normally expected ... do you have a manual? if so what's the operating pressure for the track motor circuits and then 'clock' them with a pressure gauge to see what you actually are getting ?

One of the ones we have is the same, if you let the arm controls quickly they will stay bouncing away on there own also

Had that before, stronger springs on the servo levers cured it, the old h15a’s had that issue, you could climb out of the machine then with the dead man down, flick the dipper lever quickly and let go it would sit happily moving the dipper up and down all day long!

My bobcat E27 would get into a resonance-wobble occasionally (from new). I thought it was goosed tbh, but it turned out that it was one of those things (along with crap paint).

Mine latest did it occasionally but it did pass within fifty hours.
