Had my old crafter done by sv tech, 2 to 2.8t towing. Was just paperwork and a sticker next to cab data plate!
I've never priced not thought it was about a grand. I'd be pee'd off if i paid to change a towbar because it didn't have a high enough daN rating to find the new one booked to the chassis in exactly the same way as that's the weak link imho. That's how the navara I've seen was and tbh the lower rated towbar on my hilux is far far stronger imho. How much is it.
Cheshire contractors do it aswell but thought theirs wasn't to bad at about a grand. Plus the price of the towbar so if starting from scratch with no tow bar fitted then doesn't seem to bad to run legally.
I'd need to dig the quote out but was well over a grand iirc. Definitely mentioned a different tow ball.I've never priced not thought it was about a grand. Eh? Why? it's still only 3.5t tow.I don't think it's so much to do with the physical strength of the towbar. I think technically to have a higher train weight you are meant to use a different bolt pattern. But I have seen hundreds of lorries run with normal towballs and not fail an mot or roadside check
The d value calculated with the weight of the towing vehicle dictates the weight allowed to be towed by that hitch.Eh? Why? it's still only 3.5t tow.
Yep I did a test drive with a Musso but the dealer would not negotiate a good dealI think the only pickup with 7t train is the ssangyoung musso?
yep
50mm ball is only rated at 3500kgs max anywayI don't think it's so much to do with the physical strength of the towbar. but that's for a jaw, not a ballThe d value calculated with the weight of the towing vehicle dictates the weight allowed to be towed by that hitch.

that's the coupling you're talking about ..... the ball that bolts on the back of the vehicle are all 3500kgs - BSI std. .. to cater for all eventualities -- from campers at 250kg through to full fat 3500kg trailers ... any heavier loads are all on ring and jaw3500kgs max though. There are actually 50mm ball hitches floating around rated at less
I’ve definitely seen ball hitches with 3000kg stamped into the flat on top of the ball.that's the coupling you're talking about ..... the ball that bolts on the back of the vehicle are all 3500kgs - BSI std. .. to cater for all eventualities -- from campers at 250kg through to full fat 3500kg trailers ... any heavier loads are all on ring and jaw
non std/imported then ... 'sposed to all be the max cap. of 3500kg design weight for a 50mm ball.I’ve definitely seen ball hitches with 3000kg stamped into the flat on top of the ball.
