Vermin

Dont know whether this has been covered before but what do you do about vermin in machines parked up in the shed over winter, I usually put a bit of poison around the engine bays etc if they are left a week or two unused but recently got a machine out and noticed something had been starting to make a bed with a bit of the protection around some wiring


Saw this and thought it might be worth a try ...... any other ideas ??

Never seen rats............................. just mice that come into the shed durning cold spells and seem to head for a machine.

We’ve got 4 wild cats that’s been adopted get fed every morning 2 cans of the cheapest cat food going and in return they keep the yard vermin free great arrangement we have . Not seen anything in the yard for over 10 year and we have live stock kept in our yard so there is food sources laying about makes it all the more impressive.

dont have any rats about here but there been an explosion of mice i have traps set in 3 outbuildings all 1/2 mile apart and since first week in october tally is 163 as well as 14 in traps set inside the digger!!!! never see any or much signs of them but shows how many about

Ha whaddya know...noticed weird marks on inside lip of wheely bin last night...anyway today had to do the old "stomp"...it's nearly bin day just as I hop on...big bloody rat jumped out! Made me jump

used to have five in work .. team ratter - had a river 50 yards away, ran the length of my acre yard ..... never saw a rat on site in 30 odd years of owning it .... 'least not of the 4 legged variety

this un'd ride round on the FLT bonnet all day ..... nice and warm

a desk was his next favourite spot

all of the night shift at rest ......... never saw one on a 'clothes line' but bet they could damn near sleep on one

squeak gets two or three a day at Chez Druid .... only rats i've seen lately had the lead pill from me Haenel ..... Druid 3 - rats nil

Up until the chicken lockdown we had loads of rats eating our chicken food

manage to pop a few with the old .22
So set up some bait stations from Amazon
Haven't seen any rats for a few weeks now they have stopped taking the bait.
BUT now we are overrun with mice coming in the sheds
Yesterday pulled out a box of PPE stored in a cardboard box.
A large mouse jumped out straight down my overalls, and out the trouser leg
Checking the box revealed another large mouse AND the fcukers had made a nest in he clothing.
This including chewing up a brand new Gortex Hi-Vis jacket
The whole lot went on the bonfire.....
......this is a timely warning because my machines are all stored in sheds and the critters are well known for chewing the wiring.
So later today gonna set up more bait stations and traps in ALL sheds and machines

The good bait has been banned from public use now
But you can do an online lantra course to allow you to purchase the good stuff
And the bait needs to be on a rotation between 3 different types as they build up immunity if you leave the same stuff down to long
