Van Jack

Our engineer had a mare the other night. 24plate stellantis van. Hit a rock (disguised as snow) in the dark and popped front tyre. Van came with a repair kit, but we had added a tool kit and spare wheel (luckily) Suppplied wrench was wank, so have now replaced it with a decent extending wheel wrench. Scissor jack slid out on him (icy/snow) and bent. Had to get someone out to him to sort.
Just looking at best options to replace the jack with something better than needs to live in the van. What would you use? Often you end up in a non level/muddy/ rutted situation when trying to change a wheel.
2t ton trolley jack probably right at the edge of its tolerance for lifting one wheel on a 3.5t van.
Anyone use one of these?

Ooh they make a DW compatible version. Not sure how much I would trust it..

Buy a bottle jack and keep it upright and never have to worry about it...and be amazed how many times you'll use it

Hmmm. Lifting point pretty low on the front. 180mm on good level ground. I want something that will work on poor surfaces as well.

Wont fit a bottle jack under the suspension if you have a flat tyre.. If you have a flat on the front the wishbone is only about 120mm off floor. Cant jack off the sills as they are made of tin foil.

Guess a low profile bottle jack.....

I hate jacking my van up with a bottle jack anywhere other than flat concrete. There aren’t many places strong enough to lift it on either. No wonder so many people just rely on aa/rac these days.

Nice little thing - but only 90mm of throw so probably too little. Think I will get get him to keep a cheap 3t low profile trolley jack in the back somewhere.

I'd say a cheap trolley jack your best option. Crazy cheap these days even the ally ones.

Iveco daily bottle jack, bloody good Jack's.

They even do them with a side to side pump now so even easier to use when there's not much room.

They are all pointless when on a verge though, still going to need some bits of ply to get everything level.. where do you stop though!

Standing the jack in a shovel works well when on soft ground. I’m sure most on here carry a shovel in their vehicle.
