Value my plant

Just took the old girl home after been stuck out on home build for over a year and thinking of moving her on.

She's in good enough mechanical condition but a bit tired looking and rust is ever present. Being that she's of 2005 vintage it's only going to be hobbyist or self build that's going to be interested in her . So, do I try and punt her on doing nothing to her or is it worth spending a bit of time on her repaint her and getting her looking good but may make little difference to the value?

Don’t repaint it, devalues them IMO! It looks clean (for the age) and honest as it is!

Personally prefer an honest machine rather than something that's seen 5 gallons but seems to be a fair amount of used kit that has been painted or touched up at the moment and some with the sprayer fired up and gone hell for leather spraying everything in site. Don't get me wrong I'm about to sell off the two welfare units and will be giving one or possibly both the old 5 gallon make over, but it's just because the outsides are tatty and mostly because one I painted for a colour change and it was a terrible idea so going back to how it was

It actually looks better in the picture but behind the cab and the offside panels have rust on them and it just bugs me . She was quite clean when I got her home. I remember looking at TB175's and they all seemed to be quite rusty but the TB145 was cleaner every time.

answered your own Q Mike .... as is ... seen much worse TBH ... it's an 'honest' machine and I for one would much prefer to see the 'warts'

Yep dont paint it ...... If someone buys it who is starting out and it was going to be out on their jobs then they could be forgiven for giving a bit of a tartup having first seen it in its original condition, but more than likely its going to a self builder or similar and is best as is.

I don’t think you will have any problem selling it as is & in my opinion paint doesn’t add value or make it any easier to shift.

Herein lies the problem, they are not overly common the TB145, she's done me good over the last 7 years but difficult to get a market value for an older machine like this. There's plenty 2.5- 3 tonners or 7.5-8 tonners but the 4-5 ton market is thin on the ground. Normally plant goes for good money round here as it can be easier to buy local for more than find a bit of kit down the road and get haulage organised, there is a bit of a captive audience for this but can add a 10-15% to the cost so might be worth it.

my experience with kit like that is to just finger in the air and roll with it. Your soon know if its to expensive.
