This little thing is handy for small/delicate areas

We have a couple jobs coming up where I need to dig either a 150mm trench or 80mm trench across yards / drives. Looking at costs. 40 miles away I can get a narrow foot belle for £600 inv vat. Looks to be ex hire so potentiallywell used. Or just buy a new one for 2K plus. Very seldom do I use the 80mm bucket as always scared of hookimg a service. Mostly use the 150mm bladed bucket. If you go down to the pins on the QH it gives 500mm depth which is all we need for oil. Trying to decide what size foot to buy on a rammer.

The thought of trying to dig a 80mm wide trench doesn’t sit well with me.. like you said it’s a service hook a duck! Plus unless you’re digging dust it’s just going to stick in the bucket constantly…

The bucket has been usefull occasionally for reaching through a hedge or a bank. Dug a watermain in with it the other day as I was confident in lack of services. Works okay and a lot quicker than digging a 760mm deep 1trench 150mm wide... but you cant see owt.

The feet are interchangeable to a certain extent although not sure if 80mm goes down to a smaller machine.
Really you need multiple sizes as they never work as well if the foot is narrower than the trench.

Annoyingly Belle don’t make a 150mm foot, only 165mm. We frequently get a clean 150mm slice so don’t want to be shoving a 165mm in there. Husqvarna do the LR5005 with 150mm foot. Anyone used these and got an opinion?

I've got one like this, doesn't vibrate just pushes down the material under the weight of the machine. Great idea but not really used it since having it, never seem to have the right sort of backfilling to do.

Bet one of these would be handy under the tilty for our work when it comes to backfill time, not having to get over the trench and rolling from anywhere would be a pop, not for road crossings and such but for trenches in gardens etc.

What width is it :)

I think you would struggle to get an even compaction rate as when you compress the next section I think you would end up loosening the section you have just done. Trench compactors are bad enough as it is for this when the foot isn't wide enough for the trench.
Amman do a micro trench compactor that would fit your narrow bucket but if you are trying to save cost the best bet is probably the Facebook guy tha refurbishes utility kit
What’s he called or got a link?

This one is 225mm, probably comes as a wider model for larger machines.

I actually got some use out of it the other day compacting soil around trees where I couldn't get in with the tracks.

Yeah that's the one.

I had originally seen them on Instagram, couple of American firms using them on 22 tonners under tiltrotators for backfilling basements, drainage etc.

I don't think I am getting anywhere near the productivity they are with my 1.8 mini and straight hitch 😂 but for occasional use it beats getting shaken to bits with a jumping jack.

unitedtoolsnwltd-2008 is his eBay trader name, he says he doesn't have much of his inventory listed but to message about specific items if they aren't listed

You could have one made by a local fab shop they aren't complicated.

As for specific models I have only used Wacker neuson. The 2 stroke hits a lot harder but the 4 stroke is way more reliable and a far far nicer machine to use.
