Trailer options

A good customer and contractor of mine sells Nugent trailers.. they look really decent things, not far from you..

I'll try them tomorrow. Would rather buy from a proper place than some bloke off ebay, especially as i'm not really sure what to look out for.

I'm not saying Ifor Williams are the best, but they're recognised as being the industry standard and it's well known they hold their value better than any other brand. Another thing I would say is make sure it's leaf spring as opposed to torsion suspension.

I had a tt85 and was a hell of a faf to get digger and dumper on but was a lovely trailer for daily use. Gh1054 is just super easy to load and fits both. Don't know if I would want to back to messing around with ramps

I don't have a dumper, just a power barrow and that loads itself into the transit. Most of the properties I work on are tight, so it's usually wheelbarrow jobs. Would definitely want a ramp door for ease though.

I guess it boils down to what you do how you work? I can't imagine operating without my tipper! What do you do if you have a couple of tonnes or a load rubbish to get rid of?

Rubbish goes into a skip, aggregates delivered. If I have to pick anything up it's usually just half a ton of grit sand and that goes in the custom easily. My average job is four weeks at a time so don't do many in a year.

Did you get rid of the tipper?

I have a Brian James tipper that the micro and dumpers sit on and a gh1054 for the 8026. Currently the micro and track dumpers are on the gh1054 as using the tipper as a dumping/stirage ground at the moment. It's nice not having to arse around with the ramps on the tipper as they are a huge faff, they have to be dragged out and then have to be flipped over as the stupid things not only sit upside down but also the wrong way round into the holders.

Tipper is handy though, had the GH and had to get some sand but wasn't as easy to get the stuff out.

On the fence whether to just use the GH for all the plant movements but current set up with the dumpers and micro doesn't leave a great deal of tongue weight.

@Mikey if your able to wait, might be worth buying new as used prices were not off of new money and thats before having to sort tires or brakes (full set of brakes/drums could run you best part of 1k for a twin axle)

Yes.

Anything smaller than 6x4 is classed as "just buy a bigger van you twat" and thus is pointless and shouldn't exist.
Ever tried reversing one of those little single axle 6x4s🤬 challenges anyone's patience...it's always like fk it jump out and unhitch 😆

Saw one with a kub 1.5t in the other day 🤣

The trick with little trailers is to set yourself in position so you reverse round aa curve with the trailer in sight to get to your destination. Waste of Time trying to reverse in a straight line. But position yourself at an angle to begin with and you can almost look like a professional

I much prefer moving my E10 in the back of the Iveco. Way less hassle than a trailer. 10' alloy ramps are OK, 12' even better but they have to hang over the back of the tailgate whereas the 10' ramps fit in the bed.

The GH64 is a 6x4. Good little trailers. But as small as you want to go.
I meant P6E. Whole different ball game . But tbf you tell when it's overweight as the bar just bends. Easy enough to straighten when you done tho👍

Only thing I’d be wary of with a GH64 is the tyres - those 10 inch jobbies are rated for 750kg each but that really is their maximum. They don’t take any abuse at all….

Fine for a micro digger, has roughly 1.2t of payload which should be plenty for a 1t digger plus 3 or 4 buckets, fuel, dirt etc
