driver's responsibility to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy at the start of each working day and to report any defects (to himself if it's his :giggle: ) and rectify any dangerous faults before setting off, other wise the vehicle is not roadworthy .. end of
he knew it was in that state and didn't give two ****s

But say anything to most farmers I've met and you'll just get the sack and replaced the next day by another teenager. The same can be said for most haulage firms. And most people are not in the financial position to be sacked. This is why the operators should be fined not the driver. As at the moment there is little incentive for operators especially agricultural it seems to run straight as they just say they weren't informed of the defects.
The only problem with that rig that should be down to the driver is insecure load. But even then really it should only be a fine to the driver if the equipment is available to secure the load. (I can see spare binders in the photo so he should have been able to do something) but if an operator sends a rug out without the proper load securing equipment it should be them that is held to account not the operator. Likewise it should be operators held responsible for overloading. As in my experience if vehicles are overloaded by a driver it is down to a culture within the company that the operator needs to take responsibility for

It's not so much who pulls you, as how f****ng thick you are when your stopped......

The first item is the movement of a agricultural welfare unit...... Perfectly legal..... the parking brake is defective..... not actually illegal.... the tyres are over 10 years old? Again not actually illegal........ and those defective tyres you can almost promise would be arguable in court.

Second item...... Trailer looked defective..... **** off and stop wasting my time, Too higher speed? Prove it.... you can tow a low speed rated trailer behind a High speed tractor provided you don't exceed the trailer's rating. Unsafe loading? Again arguable in court, Damaged and Unaffixed bed boards? Again arguably in court....

Item on the back is a agricultural machine.... there are zero rules about "Essential agricultural activitys" and a good man will flag this in court to start to discredit the officers involved.

This is the problem..... It's so Grey it's unbelievable.... so it won't get to court.
You deserve JUSTICE! Better call Saul Rory!

I have barn doors on the hookloader body and it would be handy to have a door that opened like a tipper......haven't thought it through or looked at how it could be done as yet.... too many more important jobs I guess.

Two way tailgate hinges are the norm in Australia. Most trucks have them fitted as standard.
You can also buy a hinge kit to make your own tailgate ↓

that is one cool kit Dave .... got any links to sources ..... well worth the shipping costs for one like that ... that's impressive, fair play

I stared at it and wondered what was unusual about it!!
(apart from putting a lot of effort making something that's available 'off the shelf').
It's a fascinating thing about traveling - spotting things that are done differently and working out which is better.

Another supplier
Also available in light duty

I’m going to say it.. some of this health and safety bulls**t is going to far.. heard of a fella the other day transporting kerbs in a drop side tipper bear in mind he had 8 pallets on so around 8 ton and the kerbs where on bails eg strapped together , kerbs on pallets where still below the height of the cribs.. kerbs or pallets they where on couldn’t go anywhere first pallet at headboard last pallet at tail door.. and forgot to say it was an 18 ton4x2 8500kg empty so no weight issue..
got pulled and they tried to do him for insecure load, he argued the point and end up they said I suppose your right not often it happens like that
it’s tipper like deigned to carry loose or modular loads.
Country has gone mad I think
