Tractor and tipper trailer set up

Hi looking to buy a tractor (maybe a fastrac but they are pricey) and plant trailer, tipping trailer. Obviously I'm aware of operators licences and the need for a tacho etc surely these won't already be fitted? It would be good for getting close to the job where the 8 wheelers can't get on demo/clearance jobs. Anyone running this set up? This will be used for 100% construction use not agricultural so it will need to be treated as a hgv. Anyone with this set up?

Personally I don’t see a problem with it and it happens over here a fair bit but I’m not mainland uk we do what we want over here.. I agree with you though handy to get near the job if access is a pain. Good luck opening this conversation get your tin hat ready.

Yes I know, not wanting to run bent a lot of people around here im sure are running bent but im wanting to do everything legit.

what happened about your Op. license for the grab truck you bought? did you get it .....it'll soon vanish if you don't run a traccy/dump 100% legit ... as will the traccy probably

Operators is still going through unfortunately but all this will be done when/if it comes through. It will all be done legit.

You can’t run a tractor as hgv doesn’t meet regs on safety etc you can do as much as you can but still won’t be 100% legit to determined judge etc but no one else bothers

Police man once told me where tractors are concerned for construction use it’s easier and cheaper to get caught on red and pay the fine, than try to do it legit. For a start a tractor can’t be an HGV, and if you try to be legit, he said that you will be considered to know the law and they will throw the book at you. He said even putting white diesel in is admitting to knowing the law and will do you for every else then.
Long story short, run it bent and act stupid when caught

Is it worth considering a demount or hook loader if you have multiple needs for hgv but little use. It's probably been mentioned before. Or possibly small artic with various trailers to suit your needs. Won't go places tractors go but you have a place to stand when the authorities come on the go

I’ve heard this afew times before.. kinda can’t apply nowadays a lot of kit has white in anyway - consider all the tractors on hs2 for example, all road registered but ran off road, your not telling me they don’t tramp between sites etc?!

Brother drives a digger on a road job in Kent, he gets to shift the digger himself using T7 and low loader, same outfit is used for community work which is off site….Think best to just crack on and worry later

Hawk had the book thrown at them On a555 near Manchester they were moving machines across an existing road with tractors as they built the new road between existing ones.

Interesting to know if it’s ran as a HGV or Agri….
