I have a Volvo ec15 and can’t get that racks to go out any help would be good thanks have just bought it ,it has been stood 3years

All I know is that this is a common problem talked about with those machines and hopefully someone will be along shortly with the answer!

I think it might usually just be dirt jamming them from memory.

It’s a basic system- perhaps take the idler out and remove the little piston that tensions the track. Perhaps it’s seized- I’m just doing mine at the moment and loads of crud had built up around the track tensioning ram causing it to rust and become pitted

Or if you mean expanding the track frame I had the same problem. Build up of dirt and corrosion. Only solution for me was to remove track assemblies from housing and clean out all the built up muck. I have now coated the inside of the frames with waxoyl to prevent it happening again

As well as this some of the expanding carriage machines can wear a lip on the male part that then won't let them move although I think this is more often stopping them retracting rather than expanding
