TMK tree shear?

Just chatting with a mate, he was talking about TMK tree shears. I know they are very popular, but I was wondering if they hold the tree 100% after the cut?

Anyone have any experience with them?

If the tree is vertical/close to vertical they hold very well. You need to be sensible with them though. If what you are cutting is leaning then it can fall out of the grab before it finishes closing. Great shears though!

I have had one for a few years and run it on the 8 tonner - Like monkeybusiness says they hold very well if pretty vertical - just occassionaly they let one go if they are a long way out of vertical - but you soon click on as to when thats likely to happen. Would be much more versatile under a powertilt - ( tiltrotator if it has the flow)to get at awkward limbs.

Dont expect too much from the 300 cut wise but they are a lovely simple shear and is pretty useful for handling the wood and branches afterwards........... they have a 400 model now which would be worth a look.

Unfortunatey at the moment we are missing a couple of people from the forum with a lot to offer when it comes to this kind of thing.

If you haven't got a powertilt the huricane attatchments shear made by cps140 on here has a clever way of being able to manually set it at different angles
Also has a removable gripper so can grip it before cutting or use it as a pair of scissors

Yeah I like the look of it too - but maybe not as handy as the TMK for for tidy up with afterwards ?

I’d assume it would still be fairly handy, surely open it up and just use the grab? Maybe Aiden will enlighten us as to how they work and can be utilised
