Tiltrotator advice please

So, I've bought a used EC02 4-pipe model with S30-180 top and bottom.

I will be buying S30 hitches to fit my current machines, E27 and E19. The E27 has steel tracks and extra counterweight. The E19 is set up with the short dipper option and extra counterwight. So both as good as it gets for tiltrotator operations. I know the top hitch won't be ideal on the E19 but it's the way I want to go in order to share it between the two. I also want to be able to drop the tiltrotator off easily for bulking out, ripper, breaker and grab work. I will be keeping my existing grab/rotator combo for now as it works well, although I think the EC02 has throughports for a grab function.

Given the above, which bucket sizes would you recommend I purchase? Which buckets should I most definitely buy as Scandi spec buckets (and from which manufacturer) and which would be OK to use my existing buckets with a weld on plate? Specifically, which litres and widths for the machine specs as outlined above?

In an ideal world but I'm also aware that might be a s**t compromise. Hence asking for experience!

I think of all the buckets I have, the cable bucket (I have one 300mm and one 225mm) and the grading bucket (again I have one on the 02 profile that is 100l and 1m wide, and a smaller one on the 01 profile and is 800mm wide). They are two types of bucket that I could not live without. The digging buckets I could live with being regular shaped.

I Can Recommend avoiding the engcon tooth buckets!! the DB Buckets are nice with no teeth, but the shape with teeth is all wrong, and is not good at much of anything.

We have switched over to EMA Buckets and are much happier.

That's strange, i would say the opposite, without teeth they seem to short, with teeth i like. unless the profiles Engcon supply over the pond are different .
EMA look good.

This is basically to replace my long serving tilt hitch on certain jobs.

Definitely Scandi grader, i like the Engcon 900 wide( 90l i think) ec27 would handle larger but 900 goes in a dumpy bag and picks up shingle etc.saves shovelling and digs well in all but hardest conditions.
600 toothed DB02 100 L.Engcon.
Tapered or tile drain 200 wide at bottom and width of tilty at the top for drainage and trenching, BMC made mine.
That would be my basics, but you can never have to many subject to budget restraints
@Gunners shares some between similar sized machines but don't know how successfully
@CPS must have more experience than most on what works.

I agree with @Gunners

Scandi grader and scandi cable bucket.
I was fobbed off with a 300 standard profile trench , welded a cutting edge on but the sides are too far back from cutting edge to get material in the bucket and yet toe not long enough to get much on, its a messy bucket and will be replaced with proper tilty profile.
For hard digging we have a standard profile 600mm with teeth which i find fine so plan to convert a new 900mm I already have over the winter.

Just opened the top. Two blanking caps and there are two engcon style quick connects underneath. Is this the spare service for a grab etc?

The connected line does the hydraulic hitch underneath.

I would put it on the tilt ram, especially if your going to be swapping machines. Most 4 / 6 hose setups will divert the tilt to aux, personally id get the proper valve from engcon (depending on price of course) as it seems you have pretty much the whole lot there

Would you check to see how much(if any) up/down play there is in the rotator and then how much rotation you can get from top and bottom with your arms?

Couldn’t feel any in the rotation, but I’m going to need to ream the ram pin clevis, machine an oversized pin and change the rod eye bearing at some point. To be expected with nearly 3k hours on it I guess. The ram tie link things were changed recently apparently.

I’d think so mate, yes. Assuming it has galleries through the centre for 4 pipes (2x QH, 2x the extra services) then you should be laughing!
