Tilting buckets.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
But then I wouldnt be able to use the thumb with just the tilt bucket (as just a bucket not tilting) because the tee would then operate the tilt one way whilst I'm trying to use the thumb
no -- the oil in the ram has no where to exit to, as diverter is closed to that line -- so will remain in position and oil will take course of least resistance to the thumb

Oil in the tilt ram has no where to escape to because the diverter valve is closed? Ok think I get that but then when I pressurise the opposing line to close the thumb, the thumb would close and then the tilt would also tilt one way at which point it will he stuck there untill the diverter valve is switched and tilt ram fluid can then exit?

nope - same applies - one line is closed and t'other has nowhere for oil to go to

Hmmm. This is the second tilting bucket I've bought. The first I hated instantly due to being of scandi design and oversized for the digger. So I got one standard profile for the Wacker . Can't seem to take to it tbh. It's numb, fiddly to use, don't like the way you have to make tiny adjustments to maintain the angle as your pulling in if slightly offset. Geometry loading a dumper retards material retention etc. Not knocking BMC as it's a well built bucket but realising that me and tilty things just don't get on- never much like the power tilt hitch I had either.
Loving the Wacker though and like that I can turn down the hydraulics on it to suit each attachment.

I really liked my tilt bucket despite it being bloody horribly heavy 🤷‍♂️
Lhs pipe looks likely to get caught eh ?
Nice looking diger, is the setup i cab like the bigger stuff for the flows on a dial etc ?

I like the tilt scandi on micro and tilt grader on borrowed KX61-3. Both have plenty of slop in the pins / hitch’s so they follow the ground nicely when cleaning up - no micro adjustments needed. Looks like geometry on yours different, my little tilt scandi will curl in to almost touch the dipper?

The thing with them all though is because of additional stack height you sort of loose the reposiveness of a standard bucket. Instead of curling nicely it's more of a lever effect- just feels numb and clumsy to me.

Yup. s type hitch will minimise it to a degree but I’ve never found a tilt bucket as nice to use as a proper tiltrotator.

you could have a slightly angled hitch plate made up for it. Mine is a bolt on so would be easier. This isn’t a great photo, I actually have loads of crowd angle left.

If you wanted to be 'quick and dirty', you'd just put a manual valve between the lines - somewhere near the bucket.

I think I follow. Like a chicane? Open it to let the tilt ram push oil from side to side of the piston through the little valved circuit and have a floppier self tilt. Close it for a stiffer self tilt and close it fully to have it rigid, no float. If the valve had a handle, you could adjust it from the cab with a broom handle.

Good to hear you’re pleased with the new machine , how is the noise now you’ve had it a while?

ive a couple of tilt graders 1.5 ton hasnt been used years and was 3 ton but was too big so swapped it to 5 ton one has been used a bit more as much better on the 5 but only on specific jobs, don't use it for stoning up etc prefer my worn spring hitch and normal grader lol much easier to contour follow with that haha

I've got a genuine cat tilting ditcher. It's 1100mm wide.

I don't use it alot but it doesn't seem anywhere cumbersome as others I've seen...and the bonus is it fits on my doosan and bobcat too.
