Tilt hitch for 1.8 mini

Any recommendations? I see there’s Hartford, Miller, BW, Geith And probably lots of others. And what about the quick hitch? My Volvo isn't piped, but has a nice manual hitch that is tightened with a half inch wrench. I do like the idea of being able to adjust for any wear. Is it worth piping it up for a hydraulic hitch?

All opinions welcome.

I got a price from Harford for the tilt unilock manual hitch for £2.3k from memory, the hydraulic hitch wasn’t much more but needed a fitting kit and their fitter which bumped the price up to over 3k for my E19.

Undecided between that and a tilt grader at the min as I’d also like a grab and I’d have to take a tilt hitch off to use it.

Thinking about it I could get a tilt bucket, a grab and standard hydraulic hitch fitted for similar money as manual tilt hitch. (The rhinox hitch mine came with has so much play in it from new! and I often change buckets)
Also the extra weight of the tilt hitch all the time might be a bother with the long arm...

That looks very neat! Low height. Only disadvantage is less tilt than the harford. I take it there’s no rotate on that?

Yes, that Steel Wrist setup looks quite good. Apart from that, it seems there is only Harford and Exac- One that do the Helac type in my size.

I run both a Powertilt and a Hardford Prolock. Combined as one unit I should think they'd be very nice to use.

My main concern would be constant loss of breakout force- it's a deep stack height. I reckon I have best of both worlds- mounting the Powertilt under the Prolock. Yes, it's even more stack height, but I only scratch around with it, then take it straight off for digging, ripping or grab work. I always say that I'm so happy to put my Powertilt on to save time- and then equally happy to take it off again to save time on a different job!

The model Olly posted looks like it would go a long way to reducing stack height (especially on S30) but it simply wouldn't be enough tilt for me. However, it's a low build height, and if you are only trying to stay level without screwing round and putting the blade down, it's got to be worth a look.

Throw the Rhinox hitch back at them as not fit for purpose. I did with my Whites hitch. It was 2mm less fully extended than the nominal pin centres, so no chance of a brand new bucket being tight, let alone a bucket with wear! You could even see grind marks where the factory monkey had f***ed up the first time- he clearly couldn't get it right the second time either.

Took a lot of back and forth with Whites (bearing in mind I'm sending photos of centremarked pins, hitch fully extended, and digital verniers) before they finally sent a bloke in an estate car to fit a spacer. Which I had to trim and enlarge the holes on before it would fit. Unprofessional to say the least.

Whites buckets are not good quality, the hitch didnt get off to a good start either.

Indeed, I share your conundrum. At that price for the Harford, perhaps a tilt grader would be a sensible choice.

I see Engcon do a tiltrotator; I wonder how much more that would be above the one trick tilt hitch.

No rotate on this but a really nice unit. RF Systems do sell them as well, but unfortunately there idea of customer service is less then to be desired, dire sort of somes them up so would stay away from them at all costs. I’d give Pat a ring, think I’m right in thinking that he has sold a few of these units already around the UK.

Yeh think you’ve mentioned before about the tilt doob, not sure what it is on this particular model. I thought this was a nice little touch for the Q/H bar..

I’ve got the Harford hitch and I’ve got no complaints, great company to deal with ! I used to have a hitch under a tilting hitch previously but can honestly say I don’t notice any real break out difference

Where are you at OBL? My Powertilt should fit under your hitch (120mm centres?). You could borrow it and see if you like it.

Ollie, I don’t suppose you know if the manual hitch version is adjustable for slack?

could try RSL ... https://www.rslengineering.co.uk/ ... know a couple of people with their tilt hitch system on small machines 'bout 1100 quid for your size IIRC

they also do a tilty similar to my VA-r ...
