Any experience on the best way to unstick the clutch on the subject machine? starts fine but can't get into any gear at present ...

Get it into gear, start it (Tow Start if needed) and Dog it to f**k with the clutch held down.
Otherwise you will likely have to split it.

I reckon it's the one with the brake drum as a clutch ....... they'll usually free with a good tap round the drum with a soft faced hammer or a lump hammer and a bit of 2x2 having wedged the clutch pedal down. Then give it a good rant to finish the job off

If it`s the drum type clutch, as @Canal Navvy said above, there should be an adjuster on the back plate, with some thing like a 5/16" or 1/4" square, you could back off to give a little more clearance, while trying to free it.

aye those drum brake clutches are lil' sods for sticking .... and pigs to work on ..... got one on the Thwaites Alligator ... and a bit fierce with it, when they are working

My uncle freed a clutch on an old 3CII by driving it into a tree, worked to be fair but put a mad bend in the bucket
Never understood why he didn’t just drive it into the muck pile next to the tree but I’m sure he had his reasons
