Hi everyone
Just got back to dumper today. All going good. Driving and freewheeling as it should. Clutch pack in transmission was the problem. When I took it apart the hard plastic internals had swollen with heat and causing it to stick. Conversion kit to aluminium (£120) and new set of seals (£120) has sorted the problem.

Any suggestions what my problem could be on same dumper. Not getting any drive when putting shuttle in reverse. Forward working fine, its not shuttle switch and we have changed trans oil and filter. Thanks.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
is the solenoid on top of the shuttle working when you energise the reverse function ? ... my switch can be a PITA when stood for a while ... contacts presumably oxidise .... ... check you have voltage at the solenoid ... if so take the solenoid coil off, energise it and put a screw diver or similar metallic (magnetic) object in the bore - you should feel it grab ... if it does it could be the armature in the valve stuck or bigger issues

On mine, the relays can play up. There are 3 of them behind dashboard. Try swapping them around and spray plenty wd40 on contacts.

It’s what I do!
Change plugs around on the shuttle valve! So rev is now fwd, and fwd is rev! See what works and what doesn’t!

Hi Johnny I came to the forum looking to learn about shuttle forward and reverse problems. It brought me to your post and I now realise I have similar brake problem with Dot 4 having been used, Would you be kind enough to tell me what fluid you used and what was involved in the refurbishment?

Similar problem here I believe we have a two fold problem with the forward reverse shuttle switch. we would have no drive or it would drive and stop or not reverse. We found a broken damaged wire and we believe a faulty shuttle lever. Initially there was only 8 volts coming through the switch (shuttle lever) repairing the damaged wire has returned this to 12 volts but we have 6 volts coming through on the neutral wire when the leaver is in either forward or reverse. We have cleaned the switch but is has made no difference to the voltage readings. We won't get back to it until tomorrow now, Any suggestions before then are greatly appreciated.

Check all your oil levels, and the gearbox oil cooler, follow hoses from box back down the near side to radiator.

JCB telehandlers of that era had a diode inside the wiring loom that couldn't be seen and wasted lots of time the first time you came across it

Ok for a short time you can join hoses from one side of the box to the other, this will act temporarily as a cooler while you try it!

Didn't get back to the dumper for a while. Its moving and driving again. The wiring loom is in bad shape a number of repairs had to be made. The biggest issue though was a blocked screen in the transmission. Once this was cleaned it now runs and drives well. Next step is new oil and filters.
