never seen plod in a Cooper :ROFLMAO:... town bobbies had 850s :rolleyes:
the Wolsely 680 was a lovely car - the old man had a few of his own.
MK1 & MK2 Lotus Cortinas were fast, but temperamental.
his favourite was the PI .. oddly enough he never owned one himself...
broke his heart when they got replaced by the mkII Granny
Monmouthshire never used Jags, but he had a few mkII, 3.8s himself - thirsty beasts though.
never used SD1s either :(

so having watched the vid ... and not wishing to detract from the end product, (which could probably 'sing' with a decent op at the helm)
it's a collaboration between him and some other guy who obviously has good facilities (as does 'dad' with the fab bench, etc.) seems to have tried a few different pump set ups and would love to know what he used for the rotary coupling ... lovely bit of work, all in all, but they must've been working from drawings of some sort, to produce all the CNC plate-work

dorset police had a triumph gt6 at the same time as the pi models it was used by two female coppers because the male coppers found it too small. at the time i was working for a local firm that were extending the force vehicle workshop in dorchester. it seemed that half the local fleet were in for repairs or being serviced, there were plenty of triumph motorbikes out of action as well. the main traffic patrol cars could not go out with any faults or defects from what i was told by the mechanics there. the cars piled on the miles. he did say they had less problems with the gt6 than the triumph pi. sure the gt6 was on carbs though not fuel injection.

yeh it was
Monmouthshire had a genius of a mechanic running their workshops named Keith Wilson who could perform miracles with that old mechanical Lucas injection system ... they purred after Keith's hand had caressed them ... for their time they were some motor.
never driven one, but had a good few trips out in the co-pilot's chair and damn they would go.

IIRC the BMW 2002Tii had a 4 pot version by Bosch on license from Lucas and they went pretty well too

the traffic cars were 'hot seated' and ran pushing 20+hrs a day so stacked up the mileage PDQ, hence the regular and fastidious maintenance, to keep them ultra reliable.
Would be embarrassing to break down going to a shout :giggle:

old man only ever 'broke' one ... pursuing a guy in a jag for a hit and run .. he'd hit his 'ceiling' at just over 90 and got chased up a 4 mile, 1:12 on the A465, with the old man up his ar*e, only to find a low loader across the road and two 'jam sandwiches' waiting for him at the top .. after nicking him the old man got back in his Pi to find it wouldn't turn over .. hadn't had time to cool, after the pursuit and'd hot seized :(:(
