The square hole through the waist is the tell here - a shaft is used through that hole to rotate the anvil under a hammer.
Cast anvils don't need the hole and miss out on the benefits of a hammer forged finish.

I can understand the fault. On a smaller scale the wiring on my Engcon uses ferrules to connect into the control box. On the rare occasion I have issues, that is usually my first and last port of call. Fortunately no bridges have been damaged as a result of my lose connections!!
