When I was a somewhat foolish youth my then boss left me and a mate cleaning gutters out on a large country house. Both up in the basket of a 17m tracked picker. The outrigger alarm went off completely disabling the basket controls. Had to spend 3 hrs stuck up in the air untill the boss came back and lowered into the ground from ground control 🤣

I hired largest cherry picker in UK about 10 years ago, lorry based f**k it was high
Bugger that .. back in 2000 I spent a day on a big scissor lift in Cardiff loading insulated cold room panels from a lorry up into a higher level. When it was up high and handling the panels in the wind the window we were passing into used to move upto 1200mm away from us then back again. Used to s**t me up.

Had one I climbed down the boom of when the alarm went off.
One I had to cling on to a steel to get enough weight off for someone on the ground to move it just enough that I could let my weight back onto it.
And the funniest one was two of us quite big lads went up in one and obviously going up the self leveling ram is retracting so all fine. But coming down the ram wasn't strong enough to self level so by the time we where at ground level we where essentially tipped out the basket.

We were using a 135ft boom lift on pretty much full reach to get on and off an oil rig deck a few weeks ago.
We had two lanyards on our harness so you clipped on to the rig and then unclipped from the basket and stepped onto the rig. As you stepped out the basket went up about a foot and a half. It was a bit scary getting back in particularly if you had left the lift sitting for a few hours as it would settle down on the platform so it bounced like mad when you lifted the basket.

Let’s just say “It was character building”. 😀😀

As I’m walking out of the door at sainsburys, could hear the building vibrating from a passing Helicopter….. look up and the valley is buzzed by 4 Apaches! Wouldn’t like to be on the end of those in a war zone!IMG_5926.jpeg
