That's how our dog works when he wants to find us. He visits every place where he thinks we might be (because we've been there before) and ticks them off the list at high speed until he eventually finds us. If I hide somewhere new he can't find me. You would think being a dog he'd have some extra strong sense (smell) which he would use outside, but he's either too daft or was never taught to use it. I can understand how maybe it wouldn't work in the house as our scent will be everywhere.

it can never FILL it has an outlet 2/3rds the way up it to 5 which has no outlet and will therefore fill to overflowing

Look at 3, that's the one.
The L/H exit pipe has no entry to it, the bucket never had a hole drilled in it where the pipe is fitted on.
It also has an exit pipe to the right, but if you look closely it's got a cap on the end of it so the liquid can't get out.

I'm thinking maybe it was designed by a Psychologist, definitely not by a plumber

I disagree. Anyone used to reading an engineering drawing will look at that, shake their head and walk away.
Therefore @Canal Navvy wins because he was the first to call it.
