Hence why rail fares are a ripoffMisty day at the tip,had chance of rail work over Xmas,£4+k for six shifts on a liebherr seen machine/ crane controller offered as much as £1700 for Xmas day one shift not this year thanks
Don't think Xmas week shift rates have much to do with rail fares more down to inefficient system of providers / toc's throughout rest of year,as a comparison, was on £120 hour in '01Hence why rail fares are a ripoff![]()

Got a friend who got rear ended at 50 mph whilst sitting waiting to turn right in a Range Rover.that is completely wrecked and passengers did not far well.had a neighbor the previous day get hit up the arse at 60,same situation,in a vw version of Range Rover.that ended far from well also.police determined the speed so pretty accurate assumption of speed.id sooner be in a big 4x4 but I was pretty shocked at the damage.luckily no one killedSay what you like about discos and Chelsea tractors etc...but I know what I'd rather my wife and kids be in when in a prang like that. Some of that modern city car s**t scares the crap out of me.

When I learnt to drive I wanted a hilux but they were expensive , so I thought about something like a fiesta.Got a friend who got rear ended at 50 mph whilst sitting waiting to turn right in a Range Rover.that is completely wrecked and passengers did not far well.had a neighbor the previous day get hit up the arse at 60,same situation,in a vw version of Range Rover.that ended far from well also.police determined the speed so pretty accurate assumption of speed.id sooner be in a big 4x4 but I was pretty shocked at the damage.luckily no one killed

My old man insisted i get a hilux, reason being if i crashed a fiesta into a lampost id come off worse and be injured.....In a hilux id knock the lampost down and be fine.
Figured he was right and the sentiment has stuck with me all my life, hence 20 odd years later theres still a hilux on my drive.
once seam welded a 205 GTi for a mate for rallying ..... unreal number of layers, of paper thin tin, in the footwells/A pillars, all held together with a couple of spotwelds .... would not want to be in anything like it in a heavy shunt ... would fold up/crumple around you, like a kit kat wrappersame here run a 96 plate Vauxhall Frontera only the short wheel base one but is solid and wouldn't like to be on the wrong end of a knock off it lol
A lot different with more modern motors mind with crumple zones etc designed in. Depends on the accident as well, you're car with a chassis might fair better running into something but if they roll over no better than owt else.
