Today's job making a leaning 200 year old gate post straight again using bottle jacks and steel plates and loads of rapid set concrete
The old colvert had soften up the ground over the years so it was dug out and replaced
The bottle jacks are now entombed in concrete forever
As all ways forgot a finished up right pic will get one tomorrow

Lol yes we did but now it's back up straight the slate house name sign is not level as must have been put on when it was out of level

How did you do that then? I'm guessing undermine the footings of it- jack it up and concrete underneath? Interesting job!

Base stones were sat on the dirt so dug down till we were same level as bottom of stone then dug a slot 300mm wide just in front and deep enough for steel plates one under and one above jacks and also dug under 200mm to get them under
Plates were 12mm by 300x900mm and used 3 2t bottle jacks had another jack to go between them when they had stroked out so we could hold it and pack under each one in turn to gain more lift

Been doing footings at my house for the last week, been an absolute pain, was hoping to be able to dig around the garage but bad ground says otherwise so spent the weekend taking it down and couple of days cleaning bricks for reuse

It's called bloody efficiency. I mean did no one twig that the reason Fred didn't use dynamite was that a few old pallets didn't cost nowt and his old labourer was paid in pints.

And was only made famous by off chance of a producer that was reporting on some news while he was doing some work in the background. Iirc.
