I’ve a pro tech p18 but needs to go on 3 or ideally 5 ton but had this little annoying job trying to sort snapped fence and kick boards out, priced to replace but customer didn’t want expense so drive some octoposts in half way and fixed them through. Replumbed fence but couldn’t straighten it as posts moved too far. Driving cup had its second use ever but did the job. Ordered a lower mount for it for general post driving

The beauty of the digger ones I find is all well and good having a dedicated tracked post driver or tractor but they are one trick ponies. I can think of a fencing job I’ve done where I haven’t had to grade the fence line/level a gateway/dig out a stump or boulder the list goes on. Plus much easier to hitch up and be away knocking then 3 point linkage job. I had a Wrag with rockspike etc on my tractor- great bit of kit but nearly always had digger on-site anyway so must as well just have the one machine there that can do the whole lot.
I tried my Protech P220 with 250kg hammer on my 3 tonner last year. To be fair it was ok with steady operating, but the P18 with 180kg is far more comfortable and I can leave the thumb on at the same time which saves time.
When it’s on the 5 tonner is the sweet spot really as hardly even notices the weight.

those bull dogs are on the wrong way round .... tail'll eventually escape their clutches and/or the U bolt'll cut through the line ... wouldn't wanna be under it for either scenario

I never seem to get jobs where I could get a tractor one near. Even a tracked dumper type is hard work up and down banks, and the digger ones are much, much easier to thread around trees etc.

Started on rb22s and d6s then priestmans, good op taught me lots but getting nearer retiring again

think about it .... it'll slide through the foot/clamp plate, but not the U bolt biting into the line

I doubt it either tbh rope on post knockers is very different from wire rope.

but still using the same principal to grip it in a bull dog ..... don't shoot the messenger ... just pointing out right from wrong

the lindab gutter looks great, why did they clip every tile instead of nailing ? the ridge doesnt really match the tiles either.

looks a good job though!

You have me scratching my head. Not hard but scratching.
Why will it slide through the foot clamp if torqued up correctly?

the clamp has a much greater surface area than the small point of contact that the U bolt bites with and indents into the cable ... clamp has much less of a grip ...... they will slide ... 'swhy it has to be fitted correctly

Re the ridge they do it different ways different areas... they also do this

For the gutter this is popular too ... its what we have mostly.
