Sounds good, I hear the motor was based on an old husky one. It makes sense to me as I think a modern mx/enduro 4banger would get annoying in no time. There is not a lot of choice for proper trail bikes, really its crf300l,drz4s,690 or your pr7.suprisingly good, everyone whos ridden it seems to like it, bloke with exc reckons its a contender when he changes.
We swopped for a while and exc has a pokey motor and its great fun for a couple of hours daftness but for a day of 150kms of trails with some fairly tight stuff its deff a lot harder work, I didnt mind giving it back tbh , v harsh suspension and uncomfortable in comparison, ajp is very comfortable, easy to ride, lacks a bit of top end maybe but has grippy low down snort which is more useful in reality, imho brillant suspension as is, the way it soaks up stuff when your cracking on is bloody impressive, if you're Chris Birch then yeah the exc is ultimately better for hard stuff, but I come from riding trials and its daft what it will do if you're daft enough to chuck it at it
biggest negative is a lack of steering lock ,this back end I might have the rads altered as it would tap rads if you wound the lock stops in but with a bit of reshaping of rads there is a,fair bit more lock to be had.
So Yeah , all that to say I really like it and it held its own when riding tight stuff with the husky 501 and exc this weekend![]()
It was 750 plus vat for five days including insurance.£280/day plus insurance.. handy to know!
No ive only done green lanes the old fashioned way with paper maps. Ive had a long break from bikes 6-9 years and just getting back in to it. Ive managed to download the gpx file for the great western trail (cornwall/devon) and have uploaded that to a map app i like as osmand is not that easy to use. Now its stopped raining i need to try it out, i got the bike mid december.I have a mate back in uk who used to live here and we worked together occasionally anyhow we went away on road bikes last year and he was talking about the laugh he had buggering about on the tet, thats how I ended up with this ajp - hes over in may and we are going to do a bit, hes with another bloke whos not so familiar with offroad so it will be sensible ,other bloke is not staying as long so we will possibly get onto something more challenging later.
they both have ktm390 adventure which you could prob add to your list
Im about 20m of joining the TET and apparently its a decent section so will be having a look shortly
Have you done much of it ?
