2 years nearly and still amazes me, the time saving on some jobs is crazy....must be 50%

Strange one today, clearing raised beds on a roof. Had to pallet truck the machines through the door, into a 5 ton goods lift, out and up a ramp out onto the roof, no running indoors but that was easy enough.
Back tomorrow to finish off.
The old sleepers, decking, plastic etc will all be going down a shute into a skip at some point.

Thought the yanmar was looking a bit tatty so I've ordered a couple if cans of spray. The arm of my Takeuchi came out really well so I'll use the same method. Also ordered a tin of paint for the cormidi skip

Been on this the last week. 300 meter section of path is literally floating on a bed of peat. Had to shore up the path in sections with boulders cos the ditch was undermining the path. Then give it a new skin of 20mm-dust. Very glad it didn't rain as pretty sure the dumper would have sunk through the path had it been wet on the surface

Bit of a downer to end the day, track destroyed itself. Could have been worse, I was virtually finished and I'd far rather it went there when I had to take it out on a pallet truck anyway than in a back garden or a muddy trench.
Can't see me getting many photos of 2 of my machines in a lift again!

Mate of mine has a grounds maintenance contract for the whole place, no effort involved in winning the job from me

Shite week tbh, cold and wet, long run out of town hating the ride in the truck, following on from someone else's crap work, underpriced the job and barely made a wage, new labourer didn't last a week

Oh well, got the work done to a good standard, turned into a lovely Friday afternoon and actually enjoyed the ride back with heavily loaded truck, earliest I've been home all week too

Unknown duct/pipe/scrap, I felt it with the bucket and cleaned over the top and as much as possible either side then let labourer do the rest with the shovel

Welding Advice needed pls
(disclaimer, I have been on a 2 day welding course and done bits and bobs, but I would mark myself 1/10 on skill)

Hi guys

I have a forestry rake which I am going to weld some mesh onto - to help me clear up the ground which has quite a lot of small broken branches and twigs which just go through the rake

I know the the mesh will melt to nothing (MIG) if I apply heat direct so was going to heat up the surrounding area and tack it

The question I have is can I weld while the rake is attached to the excavator - or is that a big no no ?

Not best practice but I’ve never had a problem. You’re miles away from the ecu at the end of the earth, just have your earth clamp near to where you are welding with the bite point freshly ground.

Dealer do it all the time fitting quick hitch pipes etc to new machines. Some machines have an isolator which you can use to easily disconnect the battery.

Mesh thick enough to withstand what you want to use it for will be easy enough to mig as you describe. Start the weld next to it on the rake and bring the pool to the mesh, letting off just before it melts.
