Wowsers but no doubt very much needed.

I shudder to think of the waste and crap that will be spent on this.
National infrastructure like this should be prioritised and treated like a war project...no nimbys ...once the site and project decided crack on...sod pointless surveys it's gonna be flooded anyway

Government buys
10x D11s
20x haul trucks
Etc etc. ..sell after and save a fortune on hire.
Army has all its own fuel storage stuff and gov gets fuel at a mega discount.
Loads of the kit prob in army stores anyway and just sign a deal with yanks for backup kit if Putin kicks off.
All rioters offered a job on the project instead of prison kept in army camp and run by parade ground Sgnt majors.
All boxed off for 100 mill?

Step up from Croydon travelodge this week!
3 lorry loads of gear to install in the basement of this place in York
Traveled up yesterday, just in time for the York land rover show. Great little show for a good cause (Mountain Rescue). The red 90 is possibly the most original 1980s time warp lr I've ever seen.
My mate looked a bit defeated after unloading the lorries, but using the hotel pool, steam room etc, restaurant dinner and a couple of pints in a beer cellar have sorted him out

Been rock facing this riverbank over the past 10 days. Half the job (literally) was just getting access track put in and bringing the stone in as awkward access for about 600meter.
The bridge was about to get washed away- another year and I reckon it would have gone. Been quite a job for my poor old TB125.

Wall looks great and you’ve done what they asked im sure to top standard but maybe designers might have thought about the impact the wall and works will have, did they flow model in?

Looks like in spate you’re now directing the flow at the tree and other end of the bridge? Seems like a flat level flood plain to the right is now protected by the wall so the waters going to have to go left and attack that bank?

Yeah fair points but I thought quite a lot about it when I was doing it (no designers, was just left to do what I saw fit) The left hand side is lower anyway and although hard to make out is pretty much bedrock all the way under the bridge on that side. The right hand side which I rock faced is still the original line and height so don't think I've actually altered the flow too drastically if at all. My idea was that if in spate it floods over to the left well then it will actually be aligned better to go under the bridge rather than hitting the undermined abutment as it had been
Will definitely go up there in winter when it's in spate and see how it's fairing.

I did mention on the quote that the bridge was badly sited as it sits right on the dog leg of the river.

That’s good they’re isn’t a mountain of paperwork, consultants, stake holders, rangers, meetings and 3 years of build up. We’ve a job on an ssi and scheduled historic monument site coming up and I’m probably a week into the job with meetings and other such stuff before actually doing anything.
