I've been trying to twig what they could be used for but it's left me stumped.

Where did they come from in Bude !?

They were in a field up near the garden centre, but they didn't come from there

They are all being put into a river to help with bank erosion

We transhipped them onto my ifor tipper, and I tipped them off as I couldn't get the hiab in the other end

Small world …. Interesting use for them. Suppose one good flood later and they’ll be down to Summerlease beach , or is it the Tamar . Either way they will need some securing down surely ?

Gawd help us, I thought the trustafarian was comical, I really hope that whoever thought this one up at least has some practical experience of how watercourses work.
Most of all I really hope that their is nothing or nobody of any value downstream

I'm not sure of the exact method but someone mentioned 30t of gravel, it's a large company undertaking the works so it must be tried and tested

Cleared out this lot the last 2 days- lorry full of temporary cables and switchgear that my mate organised at a hotel after the basement flooded back in February.The 3 of us pulled all the cables in over a 24hour shift (2 of us having just come straight back from a stag do weekend ) to bypass the fried switchgear in the basement and he had the whole building running on the generators within 30 hours of the call out
Going to be some bill for the insurance company- boilers all need replacing and have been running on a hired temporary boiler for the last 6 months, all new switchgear, over a 1000 litres of diesel a day for 3 weeks, security guards on the doors that wouldn't shut because of cables etc etc! I know I had enough out of it to buy my project Defender
Takeuchi went out on hire to a mate the other day, now he'll want it at any excuse, he loved it

I used to have a quiet place down by the river where I could go to sit,think and watch the wildlife. There was the remains of a double span brick built bridge that made a deep circling pool downstream, a proper ecosystem in harmony.......
until the word came out that all of the fallen timber should be left in the river for the benefit of the fish. Next river surge a stem lodged up and washed out the centre pier , it's now just another bit river...... probably a hundred years of mature habitat wiped out by the click of a mouse

A few years ago I was paid to winch a row of big trees over into a river by a wildlife trust!… It was good fun but seemed total madness at the time (still does now tbh!)

I've since made some egg like throw line weights with neodymium magnets cast in and can now get a bull rope around a stem from a safe distance. I do very much doubt that anyone officially tasked with winching a stem off a structure would even let me near for fear of having to make an actual decision

I remember one of my builder customers decided to make steelwork exactly like this ‘in house’… I lifted it up with my machine and both legs fell off leaving just the apex dangling bloody cowboys!

I've put up fully CE marked stuff that took careful handling...... the sort that rust stains creep out of the cold laps
