Yes, bottom of the Roaches. Been coming here since before I can remember, and if you get here after the crowds leave its a handy overnight parking spot for a camper (ok ok, roll mat and sleeping bag in the disco 🤣)👍
Not far from my friend. I love been out in the peaks, sod the towns and cities...that's from both a leisure and work point of view.

What's the new machine your buying

It's a fantastic part of the world 👍 my Nan lives in Cheshire (only 20 minutes from where im picking up the digger, which is handy) so we often go via the Peaks on the way to Nans. Only adds 45 min or so to the journey 👍
A 2021 Takeuchi 217r 👌

Nice.

How's the disco. Been ramping the miles on mine. Its definitely a good allrounder and dare say I'll take it out first over the rest of the fleet.

So far so good, I've been racking up the miles the last couple of weeks as well. Treated it to 2 new pirellis on the front this morning (349 quid, fitted, balanced, disposal, didn't think that was too bad really) so it's got basically new all round, feels better for them 👍

Is the swapping of all the rollers a preventative measure?
I leaned to buy a pair when one fails as another fails soon after!!

4 had gone its was screaming, thought it was the steel tracks originally but when I swapped it onto the new rubbers discovered 4 were banjo’d. New ones where only £110 each so made sense with new tracks to do them all and keep the 4 serviceable ish ones as emergency cover ones but doubt it’ll ever do the hours to warrant changing them as only on 5500 now so don’t think it’ll see 10k hours

Blasted up Colle del Sommeiller, one of the highest roads in the Alps at just under 3000m. Managed to get past a few snowdrifts but had to concede defeat 3 hairpins from the end on the big bikes…View attachment 62393

You might have crossed my mate whos been down there

Im just setting off to meet him for a day or two as he heads back up.

Love my trials bike and have the KTM for the tar but might have to find a cheap trail bike for the TET stuff ...looks like great fun 😁

Daft question...do the bikes run ok at that height?? Or does modern stuff compensate itself?
My mate’s bike is the earlier carb’d version, mine is fuel injected. His takes longer to start and he had to raise the idle when higher up, but appears to run fine. Neither ‘feel’ down on power (but they have that much grunt that you can’t use it all off road anyway) - a drag race on tarmac might show up any decrease in power but we haven’t found anywhere high up to do that yet!
What is noticeable is fuel consumption though - we’ve done around 1500 miles so far and the two bikes use almost exactly the same amount of fuel between fill ups across mixed riding. However, up in the high passes the carbed bike uses a lot more fuel - over 100 miles it’ll drink an extra 3 or 4 litres! The fi engine obviously leans itself out to compensate for the lack of O2, we never thought it would be quite so different in the real world though.

There are loads of bikes about down here doing TET and the Stella Alpina (that’s what we came down for) - it’s been great fun!
A bloke in our hotel (who was a junior trials champion and rode for the UK back in the day apparently) rode his Harley up some pretty rocky (albeit dry) trails to the top of Fort Jafferau on Saturday, which was a superb effort!
