Talk to me like I'm an idiot.. so how does this S30 business work. Can you just buy the hitch either hydraulic or manual? Would S30 fit a 2.8t and 1.8t?

That looks like it will be disappointing. Thin shell = small heatsink = not very powerful. Probably drawing around an amp at 12v when you put it over a multimeter.

Retail around £50-60 plus VAT. I found an eBAy store selling a load cheap (unbranded). They all have almost unnoticeable chips at the very edge of the glass. I reckon they are seconds, and for £20 plus VAT each I bought all thirty. They draw 2a each and the flood beam is the best I've seen. No striping or chequering.

Yes and yes.
It then means you could buy a S30 *insert anything you want* and you’ll know your machine hitch will pick it up, saves all this messing around with different headstocks and buckets. Altho that small a lot do have different volume buckets for smaller machines etc.
But hands down any machine I buy will always come with a S-type hitch on it, tilt rotator or not!

To add to @DaveDCB ’s post the S-type hitches are very low profile, so give more breakout force than the pin-grabber quickhitches that have become the norm in this country.

Yes. Although I have now done something like 2500hrs and it has worn a bit of the front pick up point.

It’s not just the extra breakout. It’s the geometry they give you back also! Sound daft, but it was a total revelation (after nearly five years with a pin grabber hitch on the same machine) to be able to pick up a bucket of shingle at full reach without pulling half the pile back to me with the swing, and then deposit it in a dumper a few feet away from the cab.

I’d never have been able to do that with the Whites hitch.

Basically, your bucket arc is majorly reduced.

Manufacturers will want to use s40 for a 2.7t machine unfortunately. Luckily you can still get people like @CPS to make one to suit.

I’ve run 30mm pins under my e27 for getting on five years and never broken one. It’s plenty.

I really rate s30 for sharing attachments and a tiltrotator between 1.9 and 2.7t machines.

so you didn't chuck a sling through the windows and pick it out off the back of the truck then ..... the way you have it chained down it must have some lift capacity off the back

Unless you want to share attachments with a bigger machine definitely go S30 on a sub-3 tonne (and maybe 4 tonne) machine.

My S40 set up wouldn't look out of place on my 8t buckets tbh.
