That timber edging doesn't bode well for in ground contact! Is there a good alternative to timber edging- most of my kind of paths don't require any edging but got one to look at in a churchyard and they want edging- not keen to use timber for the above reasons.

I'm always surprised how many "natural summer springs" people find when they dig swimming ponds 😁
Yeah I've done quite a few natural fed ponds. Some would fill quicker than you can dig it out, others required a little more foreplay before things got exciting.
I cleaned this one out- used to be a pond back in the fifties and was more or less full to the brim with build up- willow trees etc. was dry as a bone when I cleaned it out September 2022. A few weeks later it had what is in the photo- saw it today as was working next door- bloody hell full to the brim and cascading over the boulders I arranged for the overflow- serious amount of water flowing through it.

Did you manage to get back to tidy it up before it filled ?

Sometimes feels like we all get along far too well on here and it gets boring - maybe we need some moderate disagreement ;) or maybe im just grumpy with all the incessant rain 🤨

Ok I'll start
Orange diggers are the best nothing else will do.
Blue battery tools are best nothing else will do

Green trucks are best nothing else will do.

I'm right and your all wrong.

😝
