Because over the last few years ive found it painful on my 3t with manual hirch when I know their is a better way, but everyone is different.

I think all this comes down to the type of work you undertake. I'm quite happy to spend money if I think it's going to be worth it but I can categorically say that for 90% of the work I undertake the tilty would not be earning it's keep.. I buy a shitty £5k dumper because I know that it's an easy extra £100 to add on the daily income (I don't do day rates really) and the days it's required are plentiful. A tilty is £14k for say my TB228 and the right work just isn't there for it. I don't do any site work, it's all agri environmental based and for that the level of faffing isn't present enough to make it worth having a tilty on any of the machines to make life easier. Working around buildings, utilities, landscaping I'd probably think again.

BUT… You have also posted about getting A.N.other machine as a sideline to take pressure off your body as your walling work is so physical. I reckon a tilty with a grab on pretty much any sized machine would do a fair bit of the heavy lifting you currently do by hand.

Agreed, everyone is different.

For me all that matters is a happy customer whether it's done easily or a hard way, I don't care, it still earns wages and profit.

No i agree - ive been on my own 20+ years and have only just got one, some things are more important, but we were talking about tiltrotator's.

Tilt rotators always bring out a heated discussion

I couldn't afford to put a tilty on 2 machines, or at least saw it as not the right move, its worked out well, not missed the 8t as the WN doesnt give up much in reality and the 6t is night and day compared to the 3t and goes everywhere that did.
I knew i would know if id got it right if the 3t never came out of the shed which has proved to be the case so far

Why I volunteered to take these out is beyond me… all in over a meter of concrete , some in lean mix - most in c40+! Tilt rotator is well and truly taken off for this job! Taking About 30/45 mins per post(tackling 5 at one time).. 28 to do.

Why not, they point, I dig, they give me money in return. I couldn't careless how it's done, I'm on hire to them under their instructions.

Why are you not just taking the top bit of concrete off the burn the posts of just below ground level

My original post was in response to doobins £300 a day for 3t and tilty comment.
All I'm saying is if alot of your bread and butter work doesn't require a tilty but you have equipped your machine with one then suddenly your costs have gone up fairly dramatically and you'll be quoting against people who haven't and they will be doing the bread and butter work instead. No?
You will win on price work where a tilty is a required or vastly improved means of doing the job.

I've a total different mentality to price jobs but basic digger and driver I couldn't care less so long as I'm paid.

Make enough profit on price work to cover the tilty and if you need to be cheap to compete for the rest then price as before and enjoy the benefits of it
