We will get ‘proper’ cranes in for steel lifts etc but for day to day site handling this was a option we’ve wanted to try for a while. We did look into a small tower crane but seemed bit more agg than we wanted and having to permanently allocate the space for it was a bit of a killer.

take up a lot less space than the roto though .. are your op. / rigger/banksman correctly qualified, etc.? heading for a world of grief if they aren't will attract HSE like flies round tish

same everywhere you go in Europe ... has been for many decades

But not as cheap how much to have a crane there all week on stand by just to lift a pack of blocks when needed,
and as for the space you can back the roto out of the way for an hour while a lorry backs in to hiab is load off

Yeh I’ve definitely seen them when been on hols, not sure they would have enough reach. What do they tow them about with?

But not as cheap how much to have a crane there all week on stand by just to lift a pack of blocks when needed,
and as for the space you can back the roto out of the way for an hour while a lorry backs in to hiab is load off

meant a tower crane Mog ..... mobile'd be prohibitively expensive ... never seen a self drive hire one .... been asked a few times what the rate was for self drive though ... the hysterical laughter usually conveyed the message - "you got to be joking"

We do loads of tight sites and often watch people struggling with a standard tele handler, often far easier with my 8t and forks until you need the hight, a small tower crane like they use in Europe would make a lot of sense to me if it weren't for all the HS issues, hate the way tele handlers chew sites up if base tarmac hasn't been laid.

Also the scar in the tarmac going diagonally is a main feed to the substatation just out of shot....its laid 5inch deep.

Liked the look of the 1s at plantworx they were towable

Did a job in city centre once, tower crane base was smack in the middle of the site… exactly where the main drain was meant to run through… thought we’d smash it out and go through, after afew hours on the breaker it was a definite no go!!

Often wondered if you rang up ainscoughs and asked how much a 100t is and do they do weekend deals

And materials where delivered by a moffet or hiab there wouldn't be as much need for a telehandler anyway.
Plus it's painful watching most telehandler ops unload pallets of bricks.

Other thing is most tilt liner trailers roofs fold back so doddle to unload with crane where as over here be a right pita with a curtain sider

Also worth bearing in mind loads of sites/hauliers have banned handball so demand for moffets is massive ATM.

In the long term it will make them more numerous. Maybe it will be the better option to have a crane in the future.

Definitely some 9f the sites I've worked on a 12m telehandler is an absolute joke. Far to big and clumsy on a city centre plot.

Definitely some 9f the sites I've worked on a 12m telehandler is an absolute joke. Far to big and clumsy on a city centre plot.

A big house renovation job opposite my yard had a telehandler that was far too big, made a right mess of the ground and it barely fitted between the scaffolding and the 2ft high field edge opposite it. It couldn't get into the barn where they wanted to store all the roof tiles so I had to do that with pallet forks on the back of the tractor.
They were only lifting up 1 storey of scaffolding, a smallish rough terrain forklift would have been a much better machine for the job.
