Worse thing they can do an expensive mistake
Picked this lot up this morning and yep, gave the hitch a good shaking at the petrol station and the yard I picked them up from. Not that I wouldn't normally check, but I was definitely more mindful...It's funny how I've put the trailer on twice this week and have double checked each time that it was on correctly.... anyone else abit spooked by the Guys thread last week?![]()
I couldn’t get my head round a guy coming on a forum where he knew no-one, talking about a fatality. He’s obviously in a very bad place at the moment and was pleased when the thread got locked. It's funny how I've put the trailer on twice this week and have double checked each time that it was on correctly.... anyone else abit spooked by the Guys thread last week?![]()

nearly fifty years ago when I worked part-time on a farm, we had an Ifor sheep trailer with a screw coupling rather than a latch. The farm manager forgot to tighten up the screw, half a mile up the road the trailer jumped off and disappeared down a dike. It had some gates in it on the top deck (no sheep) until the trailer hit the dike bottom and they came through the front. I’ve double checked couplings since then. Coupling got swapped for a latch the next day.
I'd be fairly careful myself, Would always be double checking straps etc.Picked this lot up this morning and yep, gave the hitch a good shaking at the petrol station and the yard I picked them up from. Not that I wouldn't normally check, but I was definitely more mindful...
It might have been helped by the fact that the trailer is only just visible in a straight line and it's borrowed.
Yep almost subconsciously I felt myself bending down and looking underneath as well to check it had actually latched....It's funny how I've put the trailer on twice this week and have double checked each time that it was on correctly.... anyone else abit spooked by the Guys thread last week?![]()
Racehorse hay?
RAF Molesworth. 1991. Trenching for a sewer for a new QRF barracks block (This was for the yanks, so think 4-star accommodation rather than Nissan huts). In the first 100 meters, one HT electric, one hydrant line, two normal service water, one gas (already dead), one fuel line (found that one without chopping it) all within two foot of the tarmac. Some we went through with the saw. The PSA agent took away the map that supposed to show locations, came back with a blank map and told us to draw them on as we chopped through them. How many services can you find in one day in one trench??
Good use of a cable tie, one step up from Gaffa tapeDigging the foundations for a new build in the garden of one of the rentals. Nothing too big, easy day planned with concrete and pump booked for today.
