She sits a couple of inches higher. I suspect it will feel even more planted when I get it into work, what with the extra 180kgs vs rubbers, plus not sliding around on banks.It looks ace too!

See the fb brigade were commenting!Well they seemed to fit straight on ok. Heck of a difference on slope work- only played around the yard so far. They are not pleasant on a hard surface but you’d expect that. I reckon 30% of my work they will be a godsend on, and I’ll wonder why I never bought them sooner. I just assumed steels were bobcats price of £3400 plus £1200 of sprocket and idler! Plus vat!
These owe me £1660 plus vat total. Bargain.
Now that they are on, I can see that I could make up some bolt on flotation pads to take it to around 500mm per side for swamp work. This I think is the best of both worlds- 300mm seemed to be all that was available in such a small pitch and you don’t want wider in the woods and on the hills, it’s just the traction I need there.
I managed to remove the rubber and fit the steel in just shy of twenty minutes per side on my own including fetching tools. Milwaukee 90 degree impact wrench and grease gun making life easy.
I foresee myself blocking up certain jobs and changing between steels and rubbers fairly regularly, so hopefully I will get better. Got a pair of brand new rubbers to fit, that might take a touch longer than the 20 mins a side I fear!View attachment 46558View attachment 46559View attachment 46560

I never used to run them that tight on my old kubota- certainly not as tight as rubber. There's no give or flex in steels so reckoned it didn't want to be as tight. I never had a track come off in 3 years of ownership. Had the rubbers come off the case twiceBy the way, how tight should I have the steels?
Not as tight as you‘ve got them at the moment. I’d say on that length the total sag either side of the top roller added up needs to be 30-40 mm, for want of a manufacturers figure. You need some sag.By the way, how tight should I have the steels?

What were you using? 312 stainless would probably have taken.Had to gas the bloody things out in the end. Hardened steel just would not take a weld!
