I thought it was a pickup but couldn't work the rear lights out.
Besides not being able to legally tow 3.5t what are they like?

How do you get the display to show outside temp?
Any pics of the inside? Ive been thinking of doing exactly the same, remove os rear seat and maybe a big long draw that goes up behind the drivers seat and some sort of split bulkhead.

Press the button thar says EXT under the right side of the temperature display panel, shows it for a couple of seconds
I took the storage bins out and the double seat out, cut a sheet of ply to shape against the right hand, with foil insulation underneath and carpet on top. Then built plywood shelving on the left and right. Put a mesh grill over the window and a carpeted stainless sheet replaced the door card. When I camp in it I've got a thick memory foam mattress trimmed to fit around the wheel arch and a double duvet
There's tons of room for work stuff in there, much nicer to work out of than my ranger

On my third now. Love it ,best engine of any UK spec pickup hands down.
Apart from new battery this one's never seen a garage on 3 years apart from a service or two.
Think only thing I had before was a faulty rear abs sensor . Not bad in 10 years of owning em.
2.0L wasn't bad either had plenty of fun in them...lifted and decent tyres they raise the eyebrows of the green oval club.
And they will sit happily at 80 on mway all day long .

Talking of discos, I went up to my yard in mine(D5) the other day, really hard packed ice, instant slide in anything, but I thought let’s see how clever the thing is, gave the brakes a good stamping and I couldn’t believe how quickly it came to a stop with no twitching or sliding etc! Very very impressive!

I've heard folk taking the piss out of the newer electriccery in landrovers...and then ask if they've ever come down a steep hill in sheet ice...they say no...never ceases to amaze me.

Stumbled across an off-road club video in some hardcore custom trucks all trying to get up a very slippy bank, fella rocks up in his bog standard new defender on standard tyres and utterly p|ssess all over them! Amazing tech!
Must admit it puts my Hilux to shame, but then I’m not too fussed of my Hilux ends up on its side!

Nice, I can see me sacrificing some of my bits of ply. Ive got the headlining out of mine at the moment, Im re sealing the sunroofs and i fancy trying some raptor liner on the head liner.

Managed to finish job Im on today thank God for my good lights started in dark finished in dark
Water pipe slowed me up on the last bit reduce digging out for hardcore to new level for granite sets only 6 inches under drive

Suppose it will only push the used values won't be much of a loss if any with a sub 5 year old machine with low hours

I don't know with newer ones but always thought 3 ton benford was about 2750 ish.
Interesting on backwards I'd have thought that would put a lot of weight on hitch

The new 3 ton thwaites is only 2100kg ish I think. It's physically smaller than the older ones I believe

I have both. Have to say I prefer the disco 1. Just because it's Defender basic but with all the comforts you need. Hands down been the best bang for buck in a truck I've ever had. Had mine 3 years now. Have spent on things like timing belt and clutch but absolutely never let me down. Just bought the Disco 2 to eventually replace it but still find myself going everywhere in the D1!

Back On subject , not a physical ‘todays job‘ but got a planning app over the line today, 3 industrial units in my old yard(didn’t have commercial planning before) so that will keep me busy for the rest of next year after I’ve finished my current build! A lot of changes to make it from Agri to commercial spec but hopefully well worth it!
Anyone after a unit near J18/19 M6 drop me a message

Stop start or not batteries fu**ed at 3 years old? Me 12 year old hilux still on its original batteries and guaranteed to bail bil transhit out with a jump start when there's a cold spell

I am a committed vehicle fleet operator with about a dozen vehicles or so on the road. In my experience the factory batteries last 5-7 years (that’s based on 90% Ford and 5% Isuzu and 5% Vauxhall) . Replacements from regular garage seem to last around 2-3 years. I’m sure there is a lesson to be learnt.
