After a bit of reading :
It's a "cultural" center that has been integrated into what was a factory that principally looked after french Navy vessels...quite a place and tbf they have made an impressive space and still kept some of its history.
Cannons were made on the site initially then in 1840 the factory was built and used till 2004, work started to turn it into what it is now around 2010.

This is an interesting read, starting with "Iron -Mad Wilkinson " with his achievement of being able to bore a cylinder to a tolerance of a tenth of one inch and going through history as engineers achieved ever smaller tolerance

Built by the French , sold to the Germans , took back as part of the war debt to help repair the decimated fleet.

This is just my poorly translated take on it.

It's in Brest where there is a French Navel fleet, the whole of Brest was pretty much destroyed as it was taken back from the Germans by the Americans in 45.
The building itself was heavily damaged.

That's one of the things that sets the old timers apart for me. The machinery exists to make anything these days but where did you start to make the machines to make the machines in the beginning?

Trouble is nowadays HSE have you pinned down from trying unorthodox or even some kind of unique method to get something built that you don't have the proper gear for and can produce certificates and training and maintenance schedule for with LEV reports and coolant mist exposure surveillance. Kills any kind of venture starting up. It's black and white for them, there's no grey areas.

I don't know if these are any cheaper, but I have the petrol version and it's solid. Heavy as hell, and the paddles mix much more thoroughly.

Edit- they are a lot cheaper! £624 ex vat for Honda engine vs £829 ex vat for the Belle Honda! The Fairport is 6kg heavier too, and you can't say that's because Belle use Hardox....

At less than 6 months old and barely 30 mixes through it, the gearbox/gears knocks on mine, they did send out a complete 230v motor and gearbox out just need to swap them over

Some of the guys I have worked with never used to G A F about turning up for work, sometimes stuff happens and it's unavoidable but a phone call is easy enough to make if that does happen. That would p##s me off no end had loads of days on my own when this has happened and I just worked for the same guy as them.

You can....if you employ them put it in the contract. No show you require a phone call...yes a call not just a text ...

My mate gets that a lot he does small groundwork's jobs mainly foundations and drainage for extensions mostly for smaller building contractors, that's how most of them seem to be then they will ring and expect him to be there next day, I occasionally help him out on a digger most times it's frustrating because the bloke doing the job is clueless on anything below ground. I have no idea how he sticks it tbh the jobs must pay well I guess.

All subs, worked for us 8yrs+ now!
they get carried away on other jobs, just fail to realise the implications - no joiners = no roof, then can’t tile it, can’t drop scaffold to get utilities in, job stops!

Not today's job but Saturdays. One of those days that I should have just stayed in bed
Late start to the day as the wife wanted a few bits done first, so by the time I got to the yard I thought I'd just cut and split some firewood as it's that time of year again.
So went to top my old multione up with fuel and poisoned her! drove back across the yard and she stopped.... Young lad left the top off the fuel bowser and it filled will water.
Drained the tank but the injector pump must have got it. So it's now in sick Bay.
So went to rig my splitter up to the little bobcat E10, but the flat face coupler was seized up.. went to change them and they are jic thread which I didn't have finally got it piped up and it started raining

So eventually give up in the yard and headed home.. brought the splitter with me as I have a pile at the house also, and the new multione was there.
So by 7 o'clock i have the cage filled ready for the long cold winter
