With the cover everything in plastic then certified materials plus the actual paving and drive think the landscaper said close to quarter million for the landscaping and the house has just been built as well 😵‍💫

What are they doing with the muckaway as I presume that would be classes as contaminated waste too.

There's a tip down here that was a "HUGE" tailings sediment dam for a mine down here that takes it to infill over the top to re-profile the ground so normally stuff going there is less contaminated than what's already in the dam 🤣
Ironically the incoming soil is worse looking than the soil from the site but passed the tests

Do they put a premium on the tip cost aswell??
Around here contaminated soil is I think about £140/t.
Luckily we don't have that kind of contamination but I've seen a few cases of people finding burried asbestos or engine oil dumps and being stung badly

Yeah you can tip for a flat rate per ton for inert soil/subsoil but depending on the levels of contamination is to how much extra they bang on the price per ton
They don't take hydrocarbons ie. Oil ,tarmac ect in the soil that has to go out of county like the big job network rail are doing down Penzance to an old goods yard to increase the sidings for longer trains they had contaminated soil with oil so a tipper firm from Wales (Neal's) come down with fleets of there 8w lorry's to take it away counted 15 lorry's of theirs one morning on way back up so had driven down early in morning and loaded and heading back by 7:30 when I was off to work

did planning not require a geo and soil survey in light of the history of the site?
and why the test post construction?

Was a property on plot before this one the phase 1 report was done as part of planning and found then to need the removal of topsoil builder just got on with the build so it's left to me and landscaper to do it after now he's almost finished the property did ask him why he didn't just take the whole site out at start as would have been easier and cheaper then and not now he said something about the drains and services but looking at the site he could have just put them lower 🙄

was my first thought ... would've been a POP to clear the whole site first ..... I'd be looking to him to cover a lot of the cost TBH ... negligent in not doing it first

Client paying which ever way it's done in his mind and landscaper only got the call 9 months ago to design gardens and drive layouts
This I think has been on going for 3 years the build has so I've been told
If we were in on the project early days I would have flagged this up straight away to them but just the way it's gone just glad I've a tilty to get over the awkward bits that need doing as you would struggle to do a lot of it with normal digger
