Replacing it?

Yeah. Looking for something in the 8-10 ton category now and newer. The Kubota was bloody reliable but pretty archaic altogether.

Oh no, should of kept it cant see me selling the old 3t i have - prob just put it into semi retirement.

I toyed with keeping it. But as I need something larger and also have the 3 ton I just couldn't ever see the 5 ton getting much use. Although would be handy to leave on longer term come and go as you likey type jobs.

Tricky to know. I didn't loose any money on it over when I bought it in 2019, so free use of it basically which can't grumble about.

Wouldnt stick my nose up at another Kubota. But would prefer a monoboom and steel tracks. So probably looking at cat/case/Hitachi offerings

I won’t moan that my current build is delayed by 6 months due to bats, given the cost that has cost to get up to DPC! Darent imagine!

Yeah certainly not cheap, but will still be a cheap property once built as the land didn't cost them anything

I had to go and load 2500t of waste that was flytipped in someone's barn.
They rented the barn and ran arctic loads 9f waste bales in stacking them to the roof. The first thing he knew was when a repo man knocked on his door to see if he would open the shed to get the forklift out. Apparently they had been doing it up and down the country either industrial building or filling yards up with scrap arctic trailer filled with the stuff.

been a few of those round here .... some torched to deal with the 'issue' ... tyres being a favorite one for the matches

I noticed the local machinery auction has stopped taking tyres, and also when I took a load up to euros the other week, their paperwork say loose tyres no longer accepted.
Suppose they`ve been stung to many times in the past, they don`t sell, seller never comes and picks them up again.

anyone who comes up with a good/efficient recycling method for tyres will become a billionaire very rapidly

I've had my eye on this method for a while, only issue is for small scale/farm you need a way to de-wall the tyres, but otherwise it looks like a good use for them..

yeh have seen that ..... jig saw - dark, wet, winter evenings in yer barn .. bet it keeps it all together nicely

dare say a tyre machine could be modded to drive 'em around under a sharp blade -- or a fast jig saw

There was a guy locally that started collecting all the tyres and run them through some kind of shredder and produced a usable product for play parks and various other things. Was getting paid for taking the tyres and getting paid for the end product, was doing quite well. Word is a big tyre consortium came along and bought him out for large undisclosed figure and stopped him doing it. Everything disappeared from his yard. Has a successful recycling/salvage yard now

Not much to report - days and days of glorious sunshine so far this year
Back to some old customers who have another reno project so putting a tank and some trenches in.
Looks nearly ready to combine next door

6000hrs coming up on the old girl .... suppose I need to think about changing after the summer.
Oh and been on my own for a couple of weeks so the IDIG has been on every day ....... dont use it all the time when we are 2 but when on your own its such a timesaver.

Yep.
Lot of sub screed sound underlay is shredded tyres now.
