Nearest place must be fifteen miles away, and weight is a killer- the water weight you don’t think about when it comes out of the tap!Alot of UK places won't let you collect in less than a 7.5t even if you wanted to
All our work is within five miles of base generally speaking, and I have sharp sand and shingle in 20t bays at the yard. I always used to use volumetric trucks, but recently the prices have gotten sky high plus extra charges for the ‘empty’ tonnage. This works out similar money I reckon once accounting for labour, but you have complete control over timing etc. today was around four cube. New mixer is a big step up.
I wanted a tub mixer (could load with Sherpa etc on larger jobs and move with the multione if room) but I don’t have enough hydraulic flow to run a small one properly unless the 2.7t or big loader are there, which of course they often are not. So for £800 this seemed a good stopgap to test the water.
