I think at some point in the not too distant future you are going to have to be able/capable and of the mindset to defend what is yours .... and deal with the 'aftermath' of such actions in a way that doesn't leave you 'disadvantaged' (locked up) ...
as it gets tougher it'll be a scroat free for all, 'til a few stop coming home of a night and word gets around, of where 'not' to go.
the house, 3 kids, 2 cars, all on the drip'll get trampled first

They have been slowly increasing the hydrogen in the mains for quite a while. Coal gas apparently had a very high hydrogen content.
They have been testing the pipework and he said the hydrogen is easier to seal than natural gas.
Although worryingly he also said that quite a bit of the London gas network is literally non existent. It is so old the pipes have completely rusted away and the gas just runs in the little clay tunnels that are left

I don't know the full details but he is very senior and I trust him when he says it really is no big deal. Especially if they had hydrogen in the coal gas and managed to seal it then. I'm sure we can manage now.

he's quite right town gas was a mixture of Carbon-monoxide and hydrogen in equal parts ... the important phrase there being MIXTURE.
Pure hydrogen is just that, with again a much smaller molecule size than town or natural gas
no matter how senior he is, if he's been spun the 'company line' by a more senior colleague, is he really going to contradict it???

I am almost / 99.9% certain that they are legally disallowed from disconnecting any supply whatsoever historically --- too bloody risky

Interesting. Over 80 years ago the Germans managed to get several million cubic feet of hydrogen across the Atlantic in a glorified bag attached to an airship, and enough was left to blow the airship to pieces. JCB seem to be able to keep it in a tank for long enough to run an engine.

They don't have to cut your gas or electric off if you have a smart meter they can do it from there office what companies have been doing is send an email telling you they have put you on prepaid meter and we have increased your rate to help pay what you owe .So they have switched off you gas, electric if you have no money

didn't say it pisses out Bri ... but it will permeate just about anything ... the molecules 'squeeze' through the gaps between the molecules of the containment materials.... the Zeppelins were a series of multiple cells, within cells (bit like bubblewrap) , which is why when you see footage of it going down in flames the flame front travels the length of it and doesn't just go off with one massive explosion
