This I agree, I’m tempted to sell up some older kit while prices are high, then go forecourt shopping when s**t hits the fan..
I won’t do it…. but will no doubt look back on this post in afew years saying why didn’t i do it!!
Ironically depending on how long it goes on and the outcome it could keep second hand market strong. When i bought my 6 tonne dumper off Morris leslie back in 2018 I was surprised how much of what they were selling was going to Iraq.

I did it too soon with JakieB last July  ... had me money back and a small profit after 9 years of ownership/use ... might possibly have done even better since:unsure: .. had 'em queueing up last year

I did think this too, good quality used kit in a money shy industry surely will still hold decent money.. anyway I think it will only change when finance rates start to go up drastically, until then it’s spend spend spend!

Still going up though the prices and could well continue to do so for another year or so .....so if like me you need to buy something second hand within that kind of time-frame I think the sooner the better - bloke I'm on buying that lorry off is already complaining it was too cheap as he is struggling for base stock.

That's only to make you feel better about parting with your hard earned

Yes your right to some degree it's me trying to justify paying the high prices we are seeing at the moment - but my point is still valid, if you need something you need it ...and I believe prices will continue to rise for some time yet.

Good deal, bad deal or ok deal. I don't tell my customer oh I could of sold it for more. Its typical dealer trick and also helps passify warranty claims ect. I should know.

The only way to look at things is from your own point of view. If your happy/get deal you want based on current climate then good on you but just don't believe all the dealer tells you......there's more to selling stuff than just actually selling it especially with comes backs now in the uk

There’s a couple of bits of kit I fancy but don’t “need”. With how things are at the moment, I’m unsure wether to just hire-in and leave the money sat in the bank just in case things go a bit dodgy in the next year or two.
